Scammer claiming to come from ING reporting your account has been compromised. Requests you to set up a new account with ING but in the mean time asks you to transfer your account balance to a Payid. DO NOT RESPOND.

Claimed to be from ING. This was the number for ING, but he used "spoofing" which I didn't know was a thing. Got me to transfer money out of what I thought were compromised accounts into a new account. Turns out it was a scam. I lost $20,000. Trust your gut. If they claim to be from ING. HANG UP AND CALL ONG DIRECTLY! If there is something wrong with your account, you can call them and they will help you, they will never never call you directly.

I just had a call from someone claiming to be from ING security regarding a suspicious direct debit transaction and attempts to log into my account. Concerningly, the number he called from appeared to be from (02) 9028 4077, which came up as ING on my phone, which added some legitimacy to the interaction. It seems they've managed to spoof the caller ID to appear legitimate. I suspected he was a scammer when I questioned his legitimacy since I had no way to verify his identity, and he was like "if you want to be uncooperative, I'll just let the thieves steal your money," which didn't seem like the approach a professional cyber security officer at a bank would take. I wanted to see where he was taking this so I gave him more rope and after he explained all the ways they were going to save poor little me from the bad people, he then needed me to confirm my identity by going to my phone keypad and typing in my client ID number. I knew that tone dialling meant that he could decipher what I typed by the sound, so I asked if he could see my clientID, which he claimed he could. I then asked him to tell me the first 3 digits to confirm he was from ING and his mask fell off. He claimed the police would arrest me for conspiring with the scammers, that he could see my browser history, which showed that I had looked up child porn, and various other ridiculous threats. I just laughed at him and threw in some choice insults from The Exorcist. I wasted some of his time, which is the worst thing you can do to these douche canoes.

This is INg’s direct number - for you to call them. Anyone calling you unsolicited is spoofing them
