This is a scam... they are out to steal your money... add the number(s) to your blocked call list. Don't ring them back. Don't listen to anything they say.

I have also been receiving these calls from (02) 8988 7183 but nobody ever says anything they just hang up. Does anyone know how to stop these annoying calls.

These numbers keep appearing on my caller ID every second day almost for the past 2 weeks028988718302898853380289885084I answered first time and the guy said he's from Enhance Finance getting you to invest money with them or something.  They say you've entered information in some market research to win a car (which now i think about it i never did). And they say that I chose that I was interested in learning more about financing. They should get the idea you aren't interested if you don't bother to return their calls but they don't. They've called every second day almost for the past 2 weeks. I don't bother answering anymore. I'll tell them they are a scam the next time they call!

I have been getting calls form this number often but most of the time I miss the call - a message is never left.

I answered the call today and the representative claimed to be from HSBC and said as I was such a valued customer I was entitled to activate a product called 'protection'.  They knew I had recently taken out a credit card with HSBC so either HSBC has released me details, or they have stolen the information.

The agent was rushed and sounded like a fast-talking used car salesman.  They first checked if I was happy HSBC to which I quickly replied 'No' and explained a significant sum of money has gone missing from a credit card balance transfer gone wrong over 3 weeks ago.  To this the agent simply said he would have someone from customer care call me back later, and then proceeded to try and sell me 'protection'.

After declining the offer, he did read out valid links from HSBC's website where I could get information later if I needed it.  He was always clearly annoyed that I did not want to purchase the product.

I called back the number after the call and had another agent simply answered with their name and 'hello' in a quiet and mumbled voice - much different from the 'outbound sales' rep that called me.  After asking, they told me the company was "Customer call and Financial Advice Centre" or something like that, and when I asked about HSBC they said they were an outsourcing partner.

I receive calls from this number repeatedly, but strangely it only seems to happen when I am overseas.

I would say they use computers to queue and auto-dial the calls which explains the recurring frequency and timing precision.  If this is not a scam, HSBC has certainly chosen a poor service provider.
