(02) 8823 3005 called claimed to be kids for cancer, claimed they are a charity and do not require to abide by the do not call register

Sorry I messed up with the previous post. I did not double check the number. However doing and exchange search I could not find the number which suggests it's either PABX based or VoIP based.

Rang at 8:00pm - asked for family member. I asked who was calling and they hang up. Checked this website and was a bit suspicious. Called back and answering services said it was 'Australian Charity'. Sounds very dodgey..!

I too am getting this number frequently whilst at work, they on the otherhand are getting a fax connection each time they ring >:] if it is important they will send a fax lol.

They called at 10.54am on a Saturday morning. When I answered it took a while for the person to speak. He asked if I was Mrs. Smith, I said no, knowing it was my boyfriends last name and he said sorry and hung up.

My homeline (voice number) received a call from (02) 8823 3000. A simple Google search reveals that it is possibly from the Sydney CBD. However, it could be a geographic number for IP-based services, though likely not nomadic. I'm thinking the Caller ID is displayed for the intent of misleading phone subscribers that the call is being placed by a person or business located in the particular geographic area. In that case, and combined with other posters' comments about this number, it could be a marketing company possibly located anywhere in the world and which represents several different businesses.Perhaps the Australian Communications Media Authority could shed more light on it. www.acma.gov.au

Had caller at 9.52am on a sat morning was wondering if anyone knew who it was?
Can not call the number back as call can not be connected?
