i have experienced the same, i got a missed call today morning and when i called back i heard " optus advises that the number you have dialed has been disconnected.

As soon as I answered the phone, I was told this phone call will be recorded.
I told her I am happy with my current provider and she rudely made some comment and hanged up on my face

yes confirm that when the number is called immediately back - the message from OPTUS states that this number is disconnected.
