As per the goverment website, the NSW Rural Fire Service DOES NOT seek donations over the telephone. Bar the calls from 02 8524 59xx.

The 5900 number calls me on my mobile. I guess they must have plenty of money to be able to call mobile numbers. I didn't answer the call and they didn't leave a message on message bank.

Also calling from 5990 ring back and its a disconnected number. I am on the do not call database but it doesnt cover charities.

Same as above... am sitting at my computer now searching (02) 8524 5900 as the phone has rung three times in three hours all from this number and not leaving a message. I cannot believe this is a fundraising agency doing this. I am very pleased this forum has been established so I am more aware that I am not alone.

Enjoys Being Called by Call Centres

I suspect this number is associated with "Insite Call Centre Services". This number also calls from (02) 8524 5901 and so on.

Call came in so I checked here and saw it was spam. Let the call go to VM and it left no message. Now added this number to my spam black list.

check you phone bills, a reverse call charge credit scheme, ranges from 11cents to 23cents per call.
you phone bills say you called them.

They accumulate call credits by time, imagine this, they call thousands of numbers per day, every answered call registered by reverse charge gives them a call credit of approx between 30 seconds to 1 minute. they accumulate thousands of hours of call credits and guess what, they go on sale, as phone cards, the ones you see in indian,chinese and lebo shops.

great mind, whoever thought of this scam, but do you know who it is, its your telco

I have two phones in my house with different numbers, I don't answer one the other rings not long after - to do this they would be going through the white pages of the directory. I also have caller ID on both of my phones.Fundraising agencies should have more training in customer service, then maybe they might get somewhere, but not by harassing people.
