Caller: They allege to be from Mentors Arena

Scammers calling from "Mentors Arena" - they alleged I signed up for more info (I didn't) and wanted to pitch some stock market investing education. At first they claimed this was free, then said it was a seven day free trial. When I pushed for pricing they then said it was $USD 1000. Then, after more pressing, they said they get you to invest side-by-side with the "mentor" and they take a cut of your money. This suggests to me they get you to use their software or have access to your account or bank details. Anyhow, they had thick overseas accents and given the talk of US dollars it's clear they're not even pretending to be an Australian organisation.

They claimed their website is mentorsarena.com

The lady was upset when I asked if she goes home and feels good about what she's achieved that day and if she has contributed to society.

Caller: "Same as above"; Philipino Boiler Room!!/ (Possibly PRC !!)

Have blocked over 50 of these Bastards calls 1-3 times per day, in the last 6 months! Today we had (02) 8858 2009, (02) 8103 9277, & (02) 8398 9159 !! (There Ain't NO Numbers structured like this here-!!) Have just started to answer them Yesterday ( to find out what sh*t They Were Up To!!, and ) to tell them what Scamster Bastards they are !!

Phone either goes dead, or they pretend the line is bad, etc. Chinese girl this morning, claiming to be from London, but her English Grammar was so bad, she kept addressing me by my Surname, as if I was Chinese. Phone number is also the best, and a dead giveaway, as it always starts in brackets (02) then 8... Ring Telstra, they'll tell you that no NSW, nor any other State number begins with an 8 !! Let it ring, it always 'times out' at 28-29 seconds, cause they're working on 'a numbers - game', ie., the more numbers they crank through, the sooner that they'll find an Idiot to Scam some CA$H out of!! Either tell them what a piece of sh*t they are, or wait 29 secs, and block that number for the future. Their Random Number Generator, gets a bit slack after it's used about 50 numbers, and cuts back to 1-2, or even no calls per day, and you start to notice that your phone has not only blocked 1 call, but sometimes 2-3 !! Give these sh*t Suckers Hell!!

The Girl, with Heavy Chinese Accent this morning, claimed not only to be from London, but some Crap company called "Mentor Arena Educational Centre", and that her name was something like "Phasilie", as if it was supposed to sound Continental or European. Bitch wouldn't stop yacking down the line, when I asked her to repeat her Garbbled monologue, as if she was reading from some kind of Script, ...and that if she could just continue to talk over the top of me and finish whatever Rubbish she had to spout, that she'd have a better chance of Fooling me! Yeah - Right!! Apart from the Crap Reverse Call Phone Number, she couldn't even say my name right ... Back 2 Front!! (Felt like telling her to go enjoy her Rice, Singaporen Noodles, & Chop Suey!) The Dope yesterday, called himself Noah, before 3 minutes of Hard Grilling caused him to sh*t himself, and hang up!! Supposedly, I had attended their Webinar, about some kind of Online Stock Investing ...( I hadn't, and certainly Not Them! "Them" who've been Nuisance Calling for the last 6 months, on the same Fake Numbers, and being Black-Listed, ... only to Rearrange their numbers, and try all over again!!-!!)

Told chick this morning that they were Scamsters, and that I was Blacklisting her number. She didn't seem too disturbed by this, said goodbye and hung up. They rang back about 3pm ... No sound, like they were waiting to see if they could get a repeat performance from me. They Did! And they tried again -stupidly as they Always Do, after 5pm. I don't accept calls between certain hours, so the 3rd time, didn't bother me at all! Oh and one last thing, if you try to call back their Reverse Call Numbers, your phone tells you that your unable to contact the sh*t that's just called you. Same deal with SMS, which is a pity, because then you could use wonderful Emojis like🖕😤😠💩💩💩!! Hope this helps any of you others out there, seeing as we can't actually smash these c*nts in the face!😊

I get plenty of calls from Mentors Arena. When I have time, and after I’ve made it clear I will not be paying them any money ever, they seem determined to continue. So I play along.

My best effort is over 60 minutes ending with them shouting at me for misleading them. For most spam callers this stops the future calls. But Mentors Arena seems to be a special case and they just keep calling back. And I just keep stringing them along. And they end up shouting at me and hanging up.

The pitch each call is the same: “Have you experience of trading shares?” (Doesn’t matter if I say yes or no, they continue with the same pitch.) “Wouldn’t it be good to make a small return of 25 to 40% a month.” (I’d be a gazillionaire in a few weeks.) “We have automated software to spot opportunities and can trade many times a second.” (I’m surprised the big banks haven’t spotted this one.) “You don’t need to pay anything, just make a $100 deposit.” (Didn’t I say I wouldn’t be making a payment?) “It’s not a payment, it’s a deposit, you can get it back anytime.” (My bank or credit card sees it as a payment, so in my view it’s a payment.) “No you don’t understand, it’s a deposit.” (Then some of the better ones I have had.) “It’s just like transferring your money from one pocket to the other” or “If you are a monkey and I had a banana in one hand, and $100 in the other hand, you would take the banana and you would miss the opportunity to buy a bunch of bananas with the $100.” (It’s hard for me to overstate the joy I get hearing these things.)

After a while of trying, and getting supervisors on the line they usually end up shouting and telling me I am immature for stringing them along. I remind them that I clearly stated at the start I wouldn’t be paying.

Usually this stops all future calls. But I have to give Mentors Arena credit for not giving up. At least while I am speaking with them, they are not bothering others, or worse, getting someone who is vulnerable to give them their bank details or money.

I look forward to the next call.

A guy called Alex who I believe spoke in a Filipino accent, offered me financial advice. I told him I didn't want any and to stop calling me and he kept going. Once again I stopped him and he yelled at me to "Shut up please Sir!"

I really hope he gets cancer.

I've been getting calls from the following numbers since December 2020, I've always ignored them because I have a "don't know the number, don't pick up" policy. Today I finally caved because I was curious and when I picked up, this girl with a Filipino accent said I've asked for financial info from Mentors Arena (which I never did). Luckily I have the laptop infront of me and I Googled "Mentors Arena" and this was the first thing that came up. I hung up while the girl was still babbling about some investment bullsh*t and quickly blocked & reported the number as spam. For everyone's information, here are the numbers they've tried to call me from - all of them have (02) at the front. 8212 5856, 8861 1007, 8803 0461, 8844 5645, 8873 3768, 8851 7567, 8899 5157, 8804 5726.

I got an unsolicited call from a woman with a thick Asian accent trying to sell me a trading course package which included mentorship. They seem to have changed the name to "Education Arena" now. The number also started with (44) instead of (02).

Keys to knowing its highly unlikely to be legitimate:
1) Even though the unknown caller seems to have your legitimate contact details maybe even an email address, you CANNOT recall ever signing up for their service.
2) After they explain their pitch, you are being "RUSHED" to purchase a "one time deal" over the phone.

My advice: DON'T volunteer personal information over the phone. Ensure that you deliberately stall their pitch by asking THEM key questions. Ask in a way that helps you to find out exactly what info they have on you so far. This usually baits them to insist that you accept their "offer NOW" by saying, something like "this special offer ends in 15 minutes or half an hour or it's only a deal for today". You should end the call by letting the caller know "I don't deal with companies that try to rush me to purchase something i'm unable to even remember signing up for. Please remove me from all of your contact lists i'm NOT interested." Don't wait for a reply hang up right after.

Caller: Jack and Ann

Yes I went through the exact same process as everyone else in this forum. I don't know how they got my number, would've been from a Facebook ad or something. Both callers had thick Filipino accent, started off with Jack then handed over to his 'manager' named Ann. She used the usual sales pressure tactics, kept talking over, rubbing you in with their only 3% commission rate and nothing more, she walked you through their mentorsarena.com website (funny how their domain looks, and with stock images on their testimonials, claimed they know AU markets but ), guided you to click their "Professional" product and apply a coupon code (100g) to have it reduced from USD500 down to USD100. She tried to break the ice and build the relationship by asking personal questions like my age, marital status, kids or no kids, if I consider myself as a professional trader, how long have I been an investor, etc. See the sales tactics they used?

At the end, I said I don't have my credit card with me as everything is on my Apple Pay (which is true!). She changed her tone straight away and accused me of lying that I had my card with me but didn't want to do it, and kept being pushy "c'mon you can be honest with me what is stopping you from not putting credit card details in? We cannot register you if you do not pay now". At the end she gave up and asked if they could call me again next week.

Finally she showed her true colours, the rest of the convos were 100% scripted. As if I'd fall for their cheap telemarketing sales tactic.

Guy name "Bryan" called from number (02) 8965 7862, and when called back again using (02) 8436 4742 and (02) 8023 9474 a couple of days earlier as I told him I would like to read more about their product and service before committing.

During the first call, I listened to their pitch as I was interested to hear what they have to offer. Offered me a voucher for a 400 discount on their 500 "professional course" as shown on https://mentorsarena.com. Bryan directed me to their site so that he could then continue to coax me to sign up on the spot with his "limited" vouchers. I halted him and said that I would like to read up a little more on their service before committing and he said would call me back the following week to let me have time needed.

When he called me again, asked him if he was so confident with his product, why not he signed me up for free and then deduct the fees from the "profits" (which he has a 70% confident of gaining profits based on their automated algorithm trading, from just 100 I put in ??) and then I would be convinced to invest. He mumbled something along the line that they have to earn before hanging up without saying another word!

PS. I tried calling back one of the numbers out of curiiosity if it connects back to the comapny, and ithere was an announcement that this is not a connected number which confirmed to me that this is a fradulent call.

I’ve been getting twice weekly calls from these people. They claim that I’ve expressed interest in testing software, which is untrue.

Would be great to know who sold my information. I’d like to see whomever has been involved in this breach of the privacy act held to account. It’s pretty damn annoying that you can’t block these pricks and they don’t give up.

I really hope they go to jail.

These scammers have increased their harassment calls for 6mths. I had enough and tell them to take me off their call list. They dont listen to what you ask, very pervasive, TIO required on the harassment scammers.

Caller: Alex - Mentors Arena Education Center

Some guy named Alex called up from Mentors Arena Education Center, claiming I signed up to receive info for their course a few months ago (vague) also couldn't tell me where I would have done it, ie: facebook, Instagram, google (also vague).

Foreign accent and a bad connection. We chatted about the course, and he told me he just sent an email to me (which went straight to the spam folder) with more info. I informed him that I already work in finance and have a formal education so I don't need the course. I never raised my voice, or accused him of anything, and he was actually pretty polite about it all, and when I told him I wasn't interested, he courteously said, "Ok, no problem, cheers", and that was the end of the conversation.

It did seem a little sus, I have no idea how they got my name, number and email, but its the internet, so i guess its out there.

Hopefully he's removed me from the list, but I also wouldn't be surprised to get another call from this mob tomorrow, on another number. Good luck to everyone else.

P.S. - The number he called me on was actually: (02) 8878 7952

These guys are a Marketing affiliate for plus500.com.au, If you ever signed up for plus500 them they sold your personal information to these scammers.

plus500 denied this, Despite me getting called from a number spoofing from my state, Which means plus500 probably breached the privacy act and sold out my address name and number.

They refused to tell me their ABN tried to bully and pressure sell me which is federally illegal.

Explained all about the offer. Reduced from $500 to $100. I thought she was chatting me up. Asked how old I was, gave me compliments on how I sounded younger than I was, If I was single, am I a singer because my voice sounds like I would be one. I fell in love with Angel, not enough to give my credit card details tho. Asked if she would call me after work.

The guy I got called from (02) 8046 8560 (a Sydney number) claiming that I had signed up with them. They seemed to have an Indian accent (I think), which I know doesn't automatically make the call suspicious.
However, what did make it suspicious was that they said I had registered an interest with them.
I told them, "No, I haven't."
They insisted that I had and asked me to check my emails.
I asked them if they could provide a date or time in which they had sent me such an email (so I could cross check and verify).
They told me that I must be having a bad day and that they would call back later before hanging up.

I think I caught him in a lie. I think this might not be the first time they've called me either.

I've had constant phone calls from (02) 8xxxx numbers, always different and I keep blocking them. I googled phone numbers and found that (02) 8 numbers have changed and they are now (02) 98 or (02) 91. Apparently the (02) 8xx numbers don't work after 1998. It would appear that this 'Mentors' company is using outdated numbers to see if people answer their calls but they don't actually answer. I answered a call a few days ago from a lady with an American accent. She said she had my phone number and email because I made an enquiry. I did not make any enquiry or provide my number and email. She insisted that I did and I told her to delete my details at once. She said she would and hung up. I haven't received other calls since but give it time and I'm sure they'll be back :/ Take care.

No point blocking phone number as they change them every time. Second time they have called from Mentorsarena.com. I'm a professional share trader in New Zealand so know how the industry works. They offer education and mentoring in financial markets, offering a $100 subscription for two months. I doubt if one will be educated about anything. The website is probably a shell. If you want a refund before the 7 days are out, you won't get it. Oh and they want you to put in another $100 for month 3 and 4 etc.
