Terrifying and convincing scam call claiming to be from the ATO, threatening with immediate criminal legal action for tax fraud.

Got a message on my machine yesterday from this scammer. Foreign accent and sounding very direct, told me that they were from the Australian Tax Office in Canberra and that there is a legal case against me for 'tax evasion and fraud'. Told me that I/or my lawyer needed to call the number given IMMEDIATELY and that I was not to 'disregard' the call. I knew immediately it was just another scammer in a long line that I have experienced for the past two years, despite having a silent number.
I have severe depression and anxiety and don't pick up the phone unless it is a number I know as I have social phobia with strangers. But thank goodness that despite all that I am not so gullible as to believe this scam. Imagine the added stress if I fell for it. I am just so angry that there are vulnerable people out there that may be taken in by these criminals.

Same thing, same number. Can't someone track them using the number and take legal action against them for fraud!

Female Indian voice alleging serious tax fraud by me and lookout because the ATO will come after me if I don't call back on the number and ....
Called number but voice message said ;number not in service, please try .. I held the line and after 2 messages in possibly Oz accent it changed to a definite USA accent.
Second of these calls I have had this month. My number is not listed so probably stolen from iinet/Telstra or internet databases. Ho Hum.

Just listened to a very intimidating message in a female Indian accent saying I had a tax debt and had been fraudulent call back immediately. They even ended the call saying have a nice day.
Dodgy scammers 😏 this is definately not a legitimate message neither phone number of the ATO.

I have got the same call today on landline. Claimed from ATO. The number repeated 3 times to demand a call back.

Got a call from (02) 8317 3331 demanding to speak to me (pronounced last totally wrong). Said I was under serious investigation from taxation office. The rest I couldn't understand as he had a very, very possibly Indian accent. I said tell me more 'cause I know it's a scam. Call was then terminated!

Just had a call . It's scam people SCAM .

I received a fraudulent call from this number, claiming that I was about to be sued for tax fraud by the ATP unless I paid thousands of dollars immediately.
