I just received a call from (02) 8205 0499 by a company called Wiz Quiz,
it was an automated voice message asking me to partake in a quiz.

THIS IS A SCAM….

I have seen several of these over the years and they will add charges onto you phone bill if you follow their instructions just hang up if you receive a call from them on (02) 8205 0499.

If your wondering how they got your number, they didn’t they are auto dialling people which is Illegal in Australia but unfortunately it’s very hard to prove these autodial practices.

This scam company appears to be operated by a person named.

I thought Id search the number to see what I came up with and found this site...VERY HANDY!!!

recieved call on my business mobile 3 time in 23 hours... go to https://www.donotcall.gov.au/ and wait 30days to get it unregistered.Hope that helps.

I have received 2 phone calls from this number as well. The first time they rang was yesterday afternoon, and when I answered, they had hung up.

They just phoned me again approx. 10 mins ago, and this time I had the pre-recorded message regarding Whiz Quiz and the $60.

I simply hung up the phone after hearing the 'press 6 now'. DEFINITELY thought it was a scam. I never trust recorded messages!! But thankyou to whoever started this website - I googled the number and this came up straight away.

I hope they don't continue to call - it is extremely frustrating already...

I do not want this call, how do i stop it?? its the second time they have rung now. what happens if i answer it??

WizQuiz Scam

On Friday 30th May 2008 at approximately 1:30pm EST I received an unsolicited call on my mobile phone from telephone number (02) 8205 0499.  A pre-recorded message said that I had won some type of voucher from a company called WizQuiz and asked me to "press 6" to claim my prize or "press 1" to opt-out.  I hung up at the end of the message without selecting any options

I called the "Support line" telephone number 1300 730 368) that was published on the WizQuiz web site (http://www.wizquiz.com.au).  I demanded to know how my mobile number was obtained.  I was told that the number are randomly generated and checked against the Do Not Call Register.

I asked if the calls were unsolicited.  The person I spoke with would not directly answer the question but said that those receiving the call were unaware that they would be called.

I asked for the physical address of the organisation and the name of the parent or associated company.  The person on the phone provided the following details:-

I asked for the name of the manager of the person I was speaking to.  He would only provide a first name of "J".

This message was completely unsolicited.  I had no knowledge of this organisation prior to receiving the phone call.  I have never to my knowledge allowed my personal information including mobile phone to be shared or sold to any third parties.
