Got a phone call saying that they were from Australian Federal Government and I was entitled to a refund of some $6000.00. Wanted to know if I wanted a cheque or deposit in my account.

I then had to call someone on (02) 8091 2006 and quote a ID #SD155.
Scam.

I had two similar calls, both telling me I had been overcharged by $6325. In the first call I was asked to call this number and speak of Paul Edwards or Maria Williams, in the second call I was asked for my date of birth. I did not call the Sydney number, and in the second call, did not give my date of birth, but hung up instead.

Got a call from private number. Woman with foreign accent telling me she was from The Federal Government Finance Dept. That I was to receive a payment of $6,300 for my being overcharged for banking fees. She knew my bank and my address, and asked if I wanted a cheque sent to my house, or a deposit in the bank. Gave me an ID number, and a phone number to ring her supervisors Paul Edwards and Steven Coleman. I was suspicious so I am glad I checked this site first.

must be a crook. he asked my date of birth. I gave him the wrong date, and he confirmed it was correct. This number never answers

Got the phone call from Federal Governement. Happy that I checked the number on this site before making the call. Thank you for your posts, very helpful .

Got a call from a private no. saying they were from the Australian Federal Government (foreign voice) saying I was entitled to $6325.00 refund for bank overcharges. All I had to do was to call Paul Edwards or Stephen Coleman on (02) 8091 2006. Spoke to Stephen (again another foreign voice)told to go to the post office and get a western union form to make a payment of $350.00 to cover legal fees. He reiterated if I was asked what the form was for that it was private and confidential. I was to have rang him back to get instructions to fill the western union deposit form out, don't it is a scam

Lady said she was from Government and I was eligible for a refund of bank fees. She questioned my birthdate for confirmation that I was the right person she was talking to. I gave a false one and she confirmed ok. She also required me to give which bank I belonged to and I gave her one I didn't. Then I was to phone this number and the two people on the other end would send me a cheque. Obviously a scam so beware.

Well I feel like a bloody fool now ;( I gave them my name dob and address WTF do I do now they'll use my information to f*ck me over won't they

They claim they are from the government and offering a refund. Total scam. If you call them back and tell them you know what they are up to they hang up.
