this man claimed to want to loan me money but expected me to deposit $5K first!!!

same here, same amount $5248 haven't phoned this so called sherry, seemed very sus.

had the same happen to me just a minute ago his name was peter and his managers name was sherry wanting to refund me $5248.00 for a fee of $199.00 paid at post office via a western union transfer

I said I wanted a cheque, they said a man will be delivering the cheque in four hours time to my address but I had to pay $190.00 to get the cheque. So I said I am on a pension and haven't got the money to which they replied well ring me back when you have the money to pay and then we will give you the cheque.


I think the Federal Police should be made aware of this.

I had the same kind of call this morning. He still insisted he give me the reference no. when I told him I wanted a cheque.

A male with a thick accent (Michael), called saying he was from the Australian Govt/Tax Office. It was very difficult to hear. He asked for a date of birth for verification and claimed we were entitled to a refund because of over payments from the Govt. for gas and electricity. This was to be the return of GST. The refund was for $3,600.
For us to claim the money, he gave a reference number and said to call (02) 8091 0566.
He wanted bank details, to deposit the money straight in to.
