I just received a call from this number, announced myself, and waited, then all I heard was an automated message saying "Sorry, that is not a valid something. Please try again"

!!! This you might all find interesting !!!
Some years ago (1999-2003) I had a nuisance caller make numerous calls to my Telstra silent number. Usually there was only silence on the line before they're hang up. Messagebank service was left numerous silent messsages. One day they turned a corner uttering their first word ever, a derogatory comment, then they hung up, it was then I decided to sort the situation.
I had Telstra, my telephone provider, mount a Nuisance Call Trace of my calls.
They were successful in their quest however, when they told me they had determined where the calls were originating from they told me in the next breath that they would not be revealing to me any more information other than just that!
I was at that time told that the police would now need to take up the gauntlet if anything further was to happen. Telstra told me they had basically done their bit.
They said they would NOT be able to stop the calls by any means other than by bringing the Police into the process and the Police for their part would need to mount a stakeout to catch the offender/s!
With the constant need for Police to be wisely engaged I felt it was NOT appropriate pursuing the matter under the circumstances. I wished only that Telstra had explained to me more fully the "potential outcome". Had I known at the beginning of the process the what I was delivered at the end I'd not have bothered going down that line.
I immediately changed my phone number and the calls stopped.
The two "recent" calls alluded to earlier in this thread have been only two and (fingers crossed) appear to have stopped.
To me it was a complete waste of my time all Telstra's efforts. The alternative was always to simply change my (silent)phone number to another as the only way to stop the calls from coming in.
