These charities are a rort for the companies they represent.  Only a percentage of the money they take goes back to the charity.  If they ring, tell them you donate directly to the organisation (as I do with a few that harass me) and ask to be taken off the list.

Its a shame there's not a way of lodging a complaint with someone and getting their number disconnected for repeatedly ignoring the 'do not call' registry.

If you call Insight Call Centre 9215 1600 they WILL remove you. I had the same problem with (02) 8524 5900 calling me and no one there.

They are still at it.I have been called twice from this mob! The first call I received was from (02) 8209 4700 at 12:10 this morning(7-3-09). I am also in QLD and was quite alarmed when I received a call at midnight as I know a few people in NSW. They did not answer, then about 4sec later a lady said hello then refused to talk again. I hung up and thought it must have been the wrong number and did not think much about it.See next posting for second call's details. A bit more interesting!

YES, the DNC register doesn't include charities.
YES, Insight WILL remove you from their list if you call them and ask.  I did and they were very helpful about doing so.

READ the info given by Elle-May and you'll have your answers.

if you WANT to do something more, instead of bitching here like schoolkids about being called, WRITE to your local politician and ask them to include Charities under the DNC legislation.   That would be more helpful than complaining here AFTER a solution has been given to you by the very company that's calling you.

I too got a call from that number 20-03-08. It would be unusaul for the "police" in NSW to call northern qld.

This number called and I ignored it because I didn't know the number. I'm in North Brisbane Queensland Australia.
