but if they r about helping charitieswhy does it matter if a person usesa credit card or sends a cheque? r usaying staff get sacked for not getting the public to pay for donations using acredit card? is that even legal? how domake someone use a credit card? goodthing you left, or were you sacked?

YES, the DNC register doesn't include charities.
YES, Insight WILL remove you from their list if you call them and ask.  I did and they were very helpful about doing so.

READ the info given by Elle-May and you'll have your answers.

if you WANT to do something more, instead of bitching here like schoolkids about being called, WRITE to your local politician and ask them to include Charities under the DNC legislation.   That would be more helpful than complaining here AFTER a solution has been given to you by the very company that's calling you.

Four calls this week (end of September, 2008) till I exploded. Thought it may be more threatening calls from crook b-in-law, ex-policeman (associated with Chris J of ICAC fame and police corruption and long ago PCYC scandal with Parramatta group over Mercedes car raffle and other raffles) but not sure. PCYC and Make a Wish mentioned. Think it is central body for charity raffles. Wonder how much of the charity dollar Insight gets? Will never give details over phone again and will not contribute ever again. Complained re breathing call and lady said supposed to do charity not heavy breathing. Also received call just with call-centre talk in background. Very intrusive and aggravating!  J

Yep been getting calls from this number. Unfortunatly Charities are exempt from the DNC register. Why did the government let them through? I dont normally mind charities ringing Occasionally but since the DNCR has come into play the number calling these days is ludicrous. Seems they have been given a written invitation in the form of Law.

Mind you the upside is i could give money to every single charity that rings, then i wouldnt be able to pay my phone bill, phone would be disconnected and the calls would stop.

I too have been called by these ***** callers, i have read what others have said and rang the number for Insight listed above and asked to be removed from the calling list, will wait to see if this works.........thanks
