constant calls at all hours from this number. I called back and 'the number you have called is out of service' I get 5 or more calls per day. Any calls i get after 6pm are answered with "AFP". When they begin i explain " this number is a telephone line monitored by the Australian Federal Police under a warrant pursuant to section 474 of the Telecommunications Offences Act 2004 and that the call is being recorded and traced. My name is Detective Sergeant Moloney. You have the right to remain silent however anything you say can and will be used in evidence. Do you wish to continue this conversation on this basis?".
I get a lot of hang ups. Calls usually stop for about 2 weeks before they start again.
Looks like they have started using that number again, post tea time! arsewipes Caller: Consumer Resarch Australia
From what I've read, this is actually Amazon doing this as they want people who have the products to put reviews back into Amazon Marketplace and try to get their own products up the rankings ahead of their competitors. People tend to rank something better when they didn't pay for it in the first place.
Got 3 calls from this number in 10 minutes. I let it go to the answering machine as I dont answer the phone anymore and no message was left Constantly calling, I return call and the number is out of setvuce Always at tea time. They have so many numbers. All start out the same only the last 2 digits change. I don't even bother trying to answer. Caller: Charity choice
Called back. AVR said they may call back. Charity choice. Similar message to an 07 call yesterday.
Caller: Just another time waster
Left no message, a waste of time.
I notice with 14 responses, no-one has anything positive to say, so that is a fairly good indicator.
The fact that they use a un-allocated number rather than a real one indicates the type of people you would be dealing with.
Caller: Claimed they were from mycharity.com
Questionnaire, asked about different charities and whether you would consider to or not to or maybe donate to any of the charities.
The call went to my answering machine and after a 2sec pause there was an automated voice on the other end saying ‘unfortunately I can’t hear anybody on the line...I apologise’ and it hung up- definitely a scam Caller: AMAZON PRIME
I've never dealt with Amazon Prime. Constant calls from overseas, 02, 03 ... Blocking works until they come back with a new number. Now they are also calling my mobile.
Tried to sell me internet porn
Nope, they're a scam. They're just after your personal identifying information for identity theft purposes. They won't ever get you to actually test products. Do not provide them with the information they ask for. Do not even confirm your name. Rang just now. Wanted a bunch of details with offers of products from Bunnings, Woolworths and one other to trial. Said phone number came from NSW Registry of Information. Said the DNC law does not apply to them because they are not selling anything. Said 'www' was triple-w so doesn't know internet. Gave incorrect website then corrected it to 'triple-w.MysteryShopper.com.au which does exist.
Asked for personal details such as work status, mortgage status, age bracket, any children.
Phone number is out of service.
Have had many missed calls. Answered today. Woman with moderately thick Asian accent tried to entice me to become a "secret shopper" and then explained the same deal as Anonymous describes. Wanted my e-mail address so she could send me the details. When I declined and said send details to me via post, she said she couldn't do that as she didn't have that information. Apparently it didn't occur to her to ask for it!! In any case, it was clearly a scam and she was quite persistent despite my polite "thanks but no thanks". I just hung up.
There's a reason why we have websites such as Scamwatch!!
Missed call and I call back with mt pre-paid mobile. The voice mail said this number been disconnected. The call cost me over $1 in credit. SCAM. Not spam? but it IS a scam. No one wins any prizes, no products are ever sent. It's a con to gather your personal information. My brother in law works for the call center. Had the same call. Answered yes and confirmed my phone and email address. Then when I rang back had the not on service message too.
Watched a news video about a phone scam like this and panicked. Rang my credit card providers to warn them in case.
Some woman's voice saying you have called is out of service.
