from Optus sales

Supposedly from "Optus Sales" but Optus do not believe that it is one of their numbers and advise that Optus always leaves a message if they ring when a person cannot answer the phone for some reason. Optus advise to disregard calls from this No (02) 8049 0830.

I called back. A transfer and a ring - waited, waited........... no answer. I will not answer this incoming call again - I have phone with caller ID.

Asking about OPTUS service.

Had my name, number, DOB but asked to confirm year.

Was trying to "upgrade my plan"

When he asked to confirm my DOB I asked again, I didn't give it and said "nah I'll do it in the store"

He seemed reluctant to let me go.

Like others, claimed to be from Adelaide but it's an 02 number so it's from NSW

NSW number & didn’t leave a message so I will not reply after reading comments.

Caller: Unknown - Pretended to be Optus

(02) 8049 0830 called. Indian accented male. Had my name and number and date of birth. Wanted me to confirm the year. Thats when I felt unsure. Usually these companies wouldnt provide the day and month, and ask you to confirm the year. He said he is from Adelaide, and the number on my screen is not his desk number. I looked up the number as I was talking to him and found this info.

Just had a call from (02) 8049 0830 supposedly from Optus offering deals. Gave my date and month of birth but wanted my year. I told them they were calling me not me calling so I was not going to provided the year to them, they should have it and I was happy to confirm what they had already provided. Wouldn't tell me the details of the great deals they supposedly had without me giving the year, so the call ended. Either a scam or Optus are doing a very poor job on privacy and security
