Called themselves 'Unity Four'. Told them I was on Do not call. The caller told me I mustn't be if they could call me. Bit more back and forth and then the caller cracked it, called me very rude and hung up! Definitely have some fun with these clowns if they call!!

I found this call today very disturbing as they asked for me by name and then went on to discuss funeral insurance and death insurance. I explained that I am currently undergoing treatment for cancer and to please remove me from their call register. In hindsight I wish I had asked how they had my name and number??? Imagine how distressing this call was given my health situation at the moment! More investigation required as I feel my right to privacy has been compromised:-(

Unfortunately, not many in the country are aware of how numbers are attained for fundraising purposes. I am unaware how companies who have product to sell (telemarketers) obtain numbers but it may be similar to Australian Registered Charities (ARC). An amount is drawn from funding after careful consideration, which is then utilised to acquire the services of a Broker. Said Broker approaches tel-com (individual telephone service providers) to LEGALLY purchase listings of telephone numbers from them to generate/upload into their existing telephone database for potential fundraising campaigns. Having worked in an ARC, which is highly commended from the Office Of Gaming as being the most successful charity responsible for ensuring their fundraising gets to their cause than any other charity in the country, we achieve this because we do not hire outside the organisation and do all our own fundraising for our volunteers - NO APPRO!!!
Simple requests to be relieved from the calls (ONLY 5x campaigns a year = ONLY 5 calls per year, per phone number) ensures a 2 year break from calls from our organisation. It is all very civilised, respectful and carried out as requests are petitioned at time of call.

Interesting how they tell me they are recording the conversation and from AWS. Then the cheek of asking my personal insurance details.

Insurence sales, I said I was good but they still transferred me through to another insurance salesman!

Don't forget every time you put your phone number into a competition online, obtain quotes from comparison websites you are then put on a list. When this happens, it was obtained from the owner of the number and is rung up to 5 times a day for weeks.

This person calls, I answered and asked who is on the line and she said her name but I forgot instantly (not important anyway). Said that she was calling regarding something from ASW (I don’t even know what it is) and then suddenly she hung up. Crap. Blocked.
