a call tellin the bank over charges me so they want to give the money back.

I have just hung up from a man called "Sam" with the same story that I see many others have also found suspicious. I  also asked what department he was from and his reply "federal government"
He gave me an  address in Sydney and insisted I ring his manager on hanging up,so he could process my cheque. I asked what this would cost me, but he must not have been able to hear me.

Same call from someone called Marcus Haliday.  Knew the call was from India as there was a long pause before he answered.  Gave me this (02) 8005 8526 no and asked me to call Michael Slater, his boss.  Asked me who I bank with, and told him he should know since he is the one returning the overpaid bank fees.  They rang back the next day and my  husband took the call, stating he worked for Vic Police, and they hung up.  Scary thing is that they know so many details about you, eg. name, address, phone no and date of birth.  Where do they get their info from?

I had the exact same call a few minutes ago. With the same phone number from Marcus Haliday and he told me to call back to Michael Slater. I've been here for a short period of time but it sounded very strange. He said that he was from the Australian Government too.

Is there any way to stop them? or to investigate that number?

They are a scam company who get a hold of your first and last name somehow, but then try to make you pay a fee (between $250 and $350) so that you can get your hands on the "over charged fees" that you're owed.

He said he works for reclaim experts. I asked him which department he was calling from, and he said "Australian Government". I asked which one and he replied "Australian Government Department". I asked him for the specific name of the department and he said it was "Bank Reclaim Experts". I told him he was full of $#!% and that there was no such thing.

I can assure you he was NOT pleased.
