I got the same call an Indian woman saying in a very hard to understand accent that I would be refunded $5200 in overpayments for utilities and overcharged bank fees con job or what? Too dodgy

Had the same thing done to me. My concern is how they knew my name. my wife's name, my address and what bank I was with.
Can this number be traced by th police?

Exactly the same thing happened here to us also. Same amount, same load of crap.. So dodgy these people, the Aus government isn't going to get a person with a strong foreign accent calling being rude & offering $5428 freely...

Had a client call to say that he had been contacted from a governement finance department and told they would receive a cheque for $5200 for overpaid taxes. The client was asked for their bank details (which the client declined to give). They were told to go to the post office & do a Western Union transfer of $195 & then they would receive a cheque. Thankfully they didn't fall for it!

Call from this number with same scam stating that they were from Aust Govt and I was to receive overpaid GST in amount of $5248 once i went to the post office and paid $199.
Do not Give any details..... SCAM ....

Ashley (Indian in a noisy clatter call centre) called saying she was with the Aust Govt and would repay me $5214 in bank over charged fees! Wanted my DOB and bank name and that I should call her scam phone #(02) 8005 7229 and quote the scam call ref number that she gave me. She simply only had my white pages details to start with. SCAM!!!!

This number called saying they acted for the Aust Tax Office!!!! Do not give them any personal details!!!

This number called me, its a scam pretending to be from the Australian Government offering to pay for overpaid "service tax", they ask for $200 to be paid to them for their lawyer to secure the money they 'intent' to pay you.
