Fraudster pretending to be from ATO. They were short on detail, only giving generic general information about tax avoidance & threatening arrest & court action.
Clearly a well organised scam to be avoided

Smug pencil mustached voice citing a (fictitious) file number assigned to me and declaring it was the Taxation Office on the phone. Police supposedly have a warrant for my arrest. It is urgent that I phone the ATO before I am arrested. Audacious scam.

I have a good mind to phone the number given and blast the be-jaisus out of them, but one can never be sure what further nasty tricks they have up their sleeve.

Scam call as per above comments. It is a scam threatening you with arrest and court actions.

Claimed to be tax office with ref number for warrant against me for tax fraud asked for address and tax file number quizzed why and he hung up then l tried to ring back repeat my hung up

Exactly the same thing happened to me today. I called the following number (02) 8005 1745 and when I would not give them my full name they hung up the phone !!!

Accused of tax avoidance, warrant out for my arrest! WHAT!
Hard working professional, no dealings with the law, get a life Mr Scammer!
Gutless scam, hope the elderly are left out of it.

Very annoying scam. Hopefully, no-one will be caught up in any way. How do we stop this kind of thing?

Just got a message from this number claiming to be ATO talking about a warrant for my arrest. Number engaged obviously scam

Mechanical message left on phone answering machine to ring (02) 8005 1745, pretending to be from ATO threatening arrest and court action. As if .........

I get a call at 1040am daily and it is the same recorded messages threating legal action and I will be arrested if i do not call the number back. I am 66 and not well with my health. this is not helping. I know it is a scam, please do not reply and report them to https://www.scamwatch.gov.au/

Recorded message referencing a complaint against us lodged by the ATO with the Australian Federal Police. Provided a reference number and a number apparently for the ATO in Sydney.

Had the same call as did my mother. Beware. Scammers.

ATO scam. We rang the ATO who confirmed a scam.

Automated message left: Legal case against my name (no name given) and court action is in proceeding and I must not avoid this call and to return the call to (02) 8005 1745.

So fed up with these scam calls and the fact that some people actually get caught up in it
