A gentleman with a strong Philippino and/or Indonesian accent called my home number from '1322009573126224061995' and claimed to be calling from Telstra in relation to my internet account.
The gentleman told me that there were issues with my account where people where numerous people were logged on to my account and I needed to "fix" the problem.
I was not convinced so he gave me a contact number (02) 8005 1041) to call back and after searching it on the internet, I found it was not associated with Telstra in any way. I told him that I would call back the Telstra number, not the number he provided me because for my security I was not convinced. He provided me with a 'CLS ID' which supposedly is related to my customer license ID. He claimed that the number he provided me with was the Telstra IT department number. After calling the REAL Telstra company, a lady confirmed it was a scam and they do not provide 'CLS ID's'.

(02) 8005 1041 Scammer called my dad saying he only had 24 hours to set up nbn before our internet was cut off. Context: English is my dad’s second language. He panicked and gave them our details 🤦🏽‍♀️

If this number calls you, give them hell. If you have time to play dumb, pleeeeeeaase waste their time! keep playing dumb until they get frustrated and hang up. 😂 I know.. petty, but they deserve it haha

Told me my internet had a malicious virus and would stop working in 2 hours if I did not deal with the problem...funny I have been ignoring calls from this number for weeks and my internet still works ha ha. I told him I think you are the problem and you are a scammer please give me a Telstra no to call back and he gave me (02) 8005 1041 which I immediately googled and found this page. I will come back and post another comment if my internet stops working in 2 hours but somehow I don't think this will happen.

Caller: claimed they were Telstra.

I received an automated call from a recorded voice message who gave me the name "Nicole" saying she was from NBN. The call then connected to a real person who said they were from Telstra. The woman who answered the call then asked me the nature of my query. I told I had no query as she called me!

After questioning her about her credentials ie. to figure out if she was really from Telstra she said she would transfer me to her manager. Her manager then got on the phone and seemed quite abrupt as if he was offended that I thought it was a scam call. I then asked him to provide his credentials and he gave me the following details for himself:

Name: David Wilson
Telstra Employee ID: TEL410056DQ
242 Exhibition St, Melbourne, 3000, Telstra IT Dept.
Phone: (03) 9018 5056.

Whilst on the call I told him that I looked up his employee ID on Google and that I saw this page about scams from people with his same name and Employee ID. He then searched for it himself and a few seconds later he hung up.

Similar to others they asked how many lights were flashing on my modem, and asked me to open my computer so that they could fix a security issue. It sounded dodgy from the start. My only fear is that if my mother had answered the call she may have believed "David".

After receiving an Automated message telling me that my phone line would be disconnected in 24 hours due to the ceased landline account which was not yet connected to NBN, I pressed 1 following the prompts to find out what the hell was going on.
A strongly accented woman tried telling me that my phone line would be cut off and that she was with the NBN. I asked for her name and the name 'Carol Williams' was given, I asked for a contact number so I could call her back and was given (02) 8005 1041, when I asked for her extension she just responded with 'yes' I kept asking for her extension number and she hung up.

Unfortunately my mother was a victim of this scam.
They called pretending to be from Telstra, offering to help us fix our internet speed, (it has been slow for a while). My mother trustingly granted them remote access to her computer (they were directing her what to do through the phone), and using a kelogger they stole her bank account information & credit card info. They told her that "20 hackers have been using your network, which is why it is slow", and convinced her that Telstra needed her help to conduct a 'sting operation' to catch these hackers. They proceeded to conduct a very complex scam, (pretending to add money to her bank account by changing the numbers on her screen), and then asking her to make various overseas transfers, to "trace the hackers". They kept her quiet by telling her it was a top secret police & Telstra operation, and that she couldn't tell anybody. By the time i found out, it was too late. We logged onto her bank account from a different computer ,and the balance had actually gone down by roughly $30,000. These a**holes tricked and brainwashed my divorced mother into transferring her own savings overseas never to be seen again. I hope somebody can find these motherf**ckers, and teach them a lesson.

Caller: 'Charles Smith' (with an Indian accent) from "Telstra NBN Technical"

Received a call from an automated VPN stating our phone and internet were to be disconnected within 24 hours and to press '1' to speak to Customer Service. Phone transferred and 'Charles' answered stating he was from Telstra. Wanted to speak to the company manager and wanted all of our contact details. Knowing it was spam, I wasted his time saying the manager wasnt around and eventually he provided (02) 8005 1041 as the number for the manager to call back regarding our phone and internet 'problems'.

Tried to convince us that there was suspicious activiy on our ip and that Telstra was undertaking an investigation. Told us that unless we assisted them by taking screen shots they would have to turn off our internet. He became quite agressive when I started demanding more information.

Just received a call on my landline from a man with very strong Indian accent claiming to be from NBN advising that the NBN was available in our area and we would be cut off unless we called to arrange for a technician to connect us. When I called and said we'd had the NBN for two years now, he changed his story and said that there were faults with our NBN and that people have been using my internet and he would show me how to fix it. I thought it sounded a bit suss and even though he gave numbers which were my ID No. and showed me how to find it myself. He provided me with a 'CLS ID' which supposedly is related to my customer license ID. He said Telstra NBN manage the NBN in our area and was very persuasive and said I needed to go to my computer and he would show me what the issues are and then help rectify them. At this point I said I didn't believe him and asked for his name and a NBN phone number to ring back on - he said he was called Steve Walter and phone number (02) 8005 1041. I told him that I would call back the NBN number, because I was not convinced that he was not a hacker himself.

Just received a call on my landline from a man with very strong Asian accent claiming to be from Telstra NBN technical faults advising similar as other posts - that there were serious faults with our NBN that have registered with them and that if we don't rectify them in next 2 days, our internet would be disconnected for 6 months. I thought it sounded very suss, particularly as our NBN is with TPG and we have no issues with our internet. He said Telstra NBN manage the NBN in our area and was very persuasive and said I needed to go to my computer and he would show me what the issues are and then help rectify them. At this point I said I didn't believe him and asked for his name and phone number - he said he was called Jack Martin (!!) and phone number (02) 8005 1041 and then kept asking 'when are you calling back?'.

I rang Telstra and they advised it was a scam and rang our provider TPG who confirmed there were no such issues with our NBN.

Just received a call from a No Caller ID number. Claimed my internet was about to be disconnected. I asked for a return number which they gave as (02) 8005 1041. When I rang it I got a hello, no company details etc. They may be targeting areas that have been recently connected to the NBN?

Our NBN is going to be cut-off and we’ll lose all phones and internet for 6 months because there’s too many error reports being generated by our computer that are damaging our system and theirs.. Good news though ... he’ll fix it for free. I just have to log on and he’ll talk me through the whole process. Unfortunately I just can’t remember the logon password right now so I’ll have to ring him back later ....lucky he gave me this call-back number 👍🏽
