got the same type of call as others said she was from reclaim department of the deparment of finance for the Australian Government and that I was owed over 5K for bank fees. Lady called said she was in Pitt st sydney but sounded like call was from overseas. Gave me a reference no to quote when I called this number. when I called phone rang then cut off. Never gave any details but makes you wonder if it establishing some kind of link.

I had this call today from a male with a strong (Indian) accent. He had all my details and asked to confirm my DOB. I kept insisting that if he was from the Gvt then he already had my details. He gave me a reference number and wanted me to call his manager Sherry Johnston, it was a different phone number 02 80910 5666. He also asked what bank I would like the chq drawn from.

in this one the scam is account fees from bank, amount 5600, but a lawyer needs to be paid 199 before you can get your money, my husband got the call, out of work in need for money he thought it was real. went to post office to get western union paperwork and was given details of supposed lawyer, Unfortunately we have separated and dean has the paperwork, with the name of a person in Nigeria. WHAT A SCAM

I've had the same call from an Indian Lady saying I was owed over $5k for overcharged bank fees. She gave me this number and an address in 123 Pitt St as well as a ref no. She asked for bank details which I did not provide as I was worried about a scam. Glad I didnt!

Indian lady said I was owed $5,2000.48 due to overpayment of utility bills, said I would have a chq. gave ref no and called back. she said I need to go to a post office and get a bank order to pay for overseas solicitor for the sum of $198.00. Said no. She said that wirhout payment could not give me the chq.

JUST INFORMING EVERYONE,THAT MY DAD RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SO CALLED,RECLAIMED DEPARTMENT OF FEDERAL FINANCE, ABOUT SOME MONEY OWED TO HIM,THEY NEW HIS NAME AND ADDRESS WHICH THEY OBTAINED PROBABLY FROM THE PHONE BOOK,THEN THEY ASKED WHICH BANK HE BANKED IN HE STUPIDLY TOLD THEM HIS DATE OF BIRTH AND WHICH BANK HE BANKED.THEY TOLD HIM THEY WOULD BE SENDIND HIM A CHEQUE.ANYWAY I CALLED THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON.THEY SAID WE HAD TO PAY $199 THEN THEY WOULD SEND HIM THE CHEQUE.WHEN I STARTED ASKING THEM FOR MORE DETAILS THEY KEPT ON TELLING ME TO RING BACK.THIS MADE ME VERY SUSPICIOUS.I CALLED THE ACC DEPARTMENT AND TOLD THEM WHAT HAD HAPPENED THEY TOLD ME STRAIGHT AWAY THIS IS A SCAM,AND THE LITTLE INFO THAT THEY HAVE IS ENOUGH FOR THEM TO PROBABLY GET INTO THE DADS ACCOUNT.PLEASE BE AWARE AND SPREAD THIS INFO AROUND TO OTHERS THESE ARE THE NAMES AND ADDRESS TO BE AWARE OF: JUDY-(02) 8003 7595

got a call to say we had been overcharged by over 5k and would we like a cheque or give details of bank account for deposit. she was not australian and gave this number for contact. no answer

got a call from a bank reclaim some bloke said he was in Sydney told me I was over charged by a bank just over 5k and he would send me a cheque like the other bloke he gave me the name of Dominic Walker said he would ring back I didn't give him my bank details he never rang back

got a call from someone in india saying that I'm owed approx $5,000. and would sent out a cheque in the next 24/48hrs. had to confirm my details. he had my address, date of birth. he wanted me to give him my banking details. (i didn't ) he gave a phone number a ref# number

Same story as above they claim to be "Reclaim department of Aust gov"Same amount and $199 for the lawyers that Aust tax depart hired overseas to reinburse people $5248.Going to post office you need 3 things:1)driving licence2)mob phone3)$199Once you have the form you call (02) 8003 7595 and deposit the money he will see it entering the account and then transfer it into another of his account and then close the 1 you deposited

omg they called me yesterday , exactly the same thing $5248 we were getting , but had to send a cheque for $199 , they nearly had me , thank everyone for posting on here , they won't be getting our 200 bucks , a**holes

Just had the same call - had to call (02) 8003 7595, which I didn't - I Googled it and found this site.  Sounded suss and obviously was.

I have just received the same phone call, the indian guy was difficult to understand and told me I had to phone tomorrow as the manager wasnt available today. I know what I will be doing with his phoned number and reference number, I almost hope he calls me again tomorrow to remind me!!!! These indian call centres are a bloody nusiance, we also are on the do not call register

Today September 19 2012 13:45 I receive a call from Michael Davidson who claimed to be from the Australian Gov Tax Reclaims Dept. He said I was to be refunded $5240 tax recovered from the banks due to their overcharging of fees.  All my details he quote to me to confirm could be got from the telephone book. He wanted my bank details to send me the money and I said I would prefer a cheque as my suspicions were being raised.  He then requested i call back on (02) 8003 7585 and speak to his manager Angela Hooper to complete an application with application id MD612.  I then asked him why he couldn't simply transfer me to her and why did I have to call her myself. At this point he lost his confident approach and became very evasive insisting that i call her. he hung up. I did not call the number.  I did a google search and arrived here first go.  Thanks to others here reporting this as it is a clear scam to progressively put together enough of our financial info to get at our bank accounts. I would like think someone is monitoring this list and has the power to do something about this scam. Please give us all some feedback.

I got the same call today. I told him i didn't believe him and my friend last yr got the same call saying she would be reinbursed 9 grand if she payed $1000 first. Well i wont be calling them back has too be a scam.
