I just got a call exactly like that. I wanted a number to call back then they left a strange number that they couldn't even confirm second time. The voice was also very acting - in an very urgent manner.

I have just been contacted by phone by a Justin Bradshaw from an Indian Company who say that they are representative of Microsoft Windows and that they are receiving “Error” & “Warning” messages from my computer.
They asked me to open my computer and check my “Event Viewer” to show me all the warnings and messages.
They then comment on the speed of my computer and ask which software I am using for Malware & Viruses.

They are asking me to check their credentials and they steer me to a website:

http://www.gitt.com.au/

They want me to give them access to my computer and say they will help sort this out.
I also asked them about the cost, the reply was “not to worry about money” and that they would fix my computer this time for free but then there would be a “1 off charge”

I asked them to give me their phone number and that I would call them back
They gave me this number – (02) 8005 0464 (also (02) 8003 5397/">(02) 8003 5397)
After I hung up I googled their name:- Global IT Technologies

This is one of the warnings I found.

http://www.reverseaustralia.com/lookup/(02) 8003 5397/

I then rang my IT advisor who confirmed that it is a Scam and that they are voracious at the moment.
His Advice was
o Ask them to give you the IP address of your computer, their response will be that they are not able to do this as it is in their Head Office
o Do not let them have access to your computer!!

Had a call from a Sean Lee with a very Indian accent today. He told me his company worked for Microsoft and had shown that it was running slowly. He asked me to go to the control panel and choose settings. I said why should I trust him when he'd just rung me out of the blue so he gave me the company name of www.globalittechnicians.com tel.no. 02035140065
and said when I'd checked them out on the internet he was sure I'd want to call him back for his help. I don't think so!

Like some of the other people who have commented I too appear to have been scammed. Rose was also the person whose name was 'used'. was ubder pressure in my own office at the same time they phoned (I spoke to more than one person) as well trying to get outside work done on the farm just prior to dark and getting the evening meal ready. Any futurre any calls at that time of day will be be disregarded and I will be asking them to call back at a more suitable time.

Sample complaints we have found for (02) 8003 5397

Kerrie

These scamers rang my 80 year old mother  yesterday and have conned her into forking over $423.58 for a "lifetime" dedicated security support. She has always believed herself to be computer savey, and at 10pm last night was feeling every bit of her age- We have now shut down her internet access and bank accounts until we can sort it out- I will be making enquiries to find out how you can stop these b....s. They are malicious con artisits , and I dont even know how they got her number to ring her.
Said they were from the Computer Technology Dept of Windows and that the reason her computer was runnign slowly was that the windows licence was expiring and that it would shut down, but that they could stop this happening . She feels a fool, but said that they were so convincing and seemed so genuine. I asked why she hadnt said she needed to chek with a family member first , and she again said they seemed so genuine she didnt want to bother us at work.

A polite Indian woman just called me to say my windows was at risk. She wanted me to put eventvwr into my run computer and upload something. Who is this person and why did she say she is from WINDOWSl

Milly

We too have just had a call from "The Consult PC Experts", tried to have me believe that we had a serious infection on our computer and he was calling from Microsoft ...... I find it very unlikely that Microsoft would do such a thing. When I challenged him and asked how he got my number he wouldn't give me a direct answer, when I asked if I could call him back he refused. He was certainly persistant, eneded up putting the phone down.

I wish I had seen this web site before the mongrels caught me off guard.  First they get an asian woman who could barely speak English to lull you into a false sense of security then they put me onto their tech Indian.  He argued with me, very convincingly and claimed there was no fee and they really were from Microsoft Customare Care and because I had been experiencing a few issues with my computer and sending off error messages I followed their instructions.  I thought they were giving me instructions for a fix over the phone but instead I had given them remote access to my computer.  After their "test" they told me my software maintenance warranty was out of date and I should pay them to fix it.  I told them I couldn't pay and asked them to send the prices via email at which point he baulked and said they didn't do that but gave me the "number" to call. Luckily they didn't get my credit card details however the remote access worried.
I eventually tracked down most of the software they had downloaded and removed it (not easy to find) but in doing so I have a constant error message that renders my computer unusable.
When he did phone back 2 days later I demanded an address, of course it was phoney, and told them I would go to the police at which point he said he would get on to their head office and call me back.  Yeah right.
There has to be a way we can bring these ba****ds down.
Just goes to show - can't trust anyone these days.

Troy

Yep, a very unsophisticated scam - microsoft would never ring thir customers:-)Exactly the MO Nathan described except his name was Sebastion. The womans name was Debbie and both with Indian Accents. Told them nick off whatthey described was total crap.

Bluesteel99

My wife was called today by a man with an Indian accent with this story about how he was from Microsoft and that they noticed that our pc was running slow. at this point my wife, who is skeptical at best of any telemarketers, asked him to explain how he got our no, at which point he became agitated and started to become a little aggressive and repeating that he was a Microsoft technician. My wife managed to get his ph no of of him and said her husband would call them back. I came home and called the no and after a no of rings of the (02) 8003 5397, I got through to 'Agit' who after a series of questions confessed he was from PC Consulting. Given that was not Microsoft I just hung up figuring it was not legit. Thanks for all these posts, helped confirm a suspicion.
