I just got a call exactly like that. I wanted a number to call back then they left a strange number that they couldn't even confirm second time. The voice was also very acting - in an very urgent manner.

I have just been contacted by phone by a Justin Bradshaw from an Indian Company who say that they are representative of Microsoft Windows and that they are receiving “Error” & “Warning” messages from my computer.
They asked me to open my computer and check my “Event Viewer” to show me all the warnings and messages.
They then comment on the speed of my computer and ask which software I am using for Malware & Viruses.

They are asking me to check their credentials and they steer me to a website:

http://www.gitt.com.au/

They want me to give them access to my computer and say they will help sort this out.
I also asked them about the cost, the reply was “not to worry about money” and that they would fix my computer this time for free but then there would be a “1 off charge”

I asked them to give me their phone number and that I would call them back
They gave me this number – (02) 8005 0464 (also (02) 8003 5397/">(02) 8003 5397)
After I hung up I googled their name:- Global IT Technologies

This is one of the warnings I found.

http://www.reverseaustralia.com/lookup/(02) 8003 5397/

I then rang my IT advisor who confirmed that it is a Scam and that they are voracious at the moment.
His Advice was
o Ask them to give you the IP address of your computer, their response will be that they are not able to do this as it is in their Head Office
o Do not let them have access to your computer!!

Had a call from a Sean Lee with a very Indian accent today. He told me his company worked for Microsoft and had shown that it was running slowly. He asked me to go to the control panel and choose settings. I said why should I trust him when he'd just rung me out of the blue so he gave me the company name of www.globalittechnicians.com tel.no. 02035140065
and said when I'd checked them out on the internet he was sure I'd want to call him back for his help. I don't think so!

Like some of the other people who have commented I too appear to have been scammed. Rose was also the person whose name was 'used'. was ubder pressure in my own office at the same time they phoned (I spoke to more than one person) as well trying to get outside work done on the farm just prior to dark and getting the evening meal ready. Any futurre any calls at that time of day will be be disregarded and I will be asking them to call back at a more suitable time.

GJB Scam Failed

Just also had a call from Mac. Nice guy.. gave me a fake phone number at first but when i said i was keen but was in the middle of cooking dinner, he soon gave me a real one (03) 9018 7738... so if anyone wants a number there it is... These guys make me laugh... poor little indians... wondering where they'll get their next papadam from.... I like to mess with them a bit though... ask which computer is going to crash.. and sound real concerned... then see if they can help all your friends too.... they get so excited.... then tell em you'll have to call em back.. they just about cry... he kept asking my name.. I said it was the one on the paperwork... "no i mean your short name sir" nah, i dont have one... lol....I feel bad for the good indians.... (the ones with bows and arrows)

I just received a call from the lovely 'Samantha Wilson' from PC consultants telling me my mum had an infection on her computer. She had her name, address and phone number so I questioned how she had all these details, apparently Microsoft had provided them.

i was very sceptical as I know Microsoft would never call their customers.

This is an absolute scam (as I can see people have also realised from all the posts above). I asked for a contact number so my mum could call her back. The number rang out and was left with an answering machine.

Don't be fooled!

Yes i too have to say F**k u scammer BUT for the kind info of the angry young man/woman below -try to learn some more about a country before you make stupid comments about it.This comment reveals your lack of knowledge.Try to learn more about the third largest economy in the world before you comment about it

Scam call today.  Routine much as above. I'm computer savvy.  Pretending they have messages from my computer indicating that it's infected.  The same eventvwr sequence .. "the yellow triangles and red circles indicated the problems" (nonsense).   Tel no (02) 8003 5398, one of the three I spoke to "Daniel Martin staff number 0643".  All Indian.  Address "Unit2/13 Chifley Park Drive, Sydney".  Didn't know my email address, couldn't tell me how they'd got the messages, till  ... "found by surveyors in my area on random survey".  Couldn't explain how random surveyors could have picked  anything up.  Supposedly knew my name and tel number "from data I'd supplied MS when I loaded Windows" (nonsense), but had said they were NOT employed by MS and couldn't then explain how MS had given them my data (obviously from the tel book).  Didn't know what version of Windows I was using, or any of my computer names.  Obviously knew nothing.

"Global IT Technicians".  Wouldn't say how they got paid for their service.  Finally asked me to enter the site "www.support.me" and their technician, who was "Certified by MS" would go through my computer and fix it.  I bet he would.  Told him it sounded like a scam and he fizzled out.  An interesting 15 min call.  Moral for those who know nothing about computers - NEVER pay any attention to callers.  No one legit cold-calls
