Fraud pretending to be the ATO and claiming that you need to call them back before a lawsuit is filed against you

It's was a robo call message left on my voicemail claiming to be from the ATO saying I had to act quickly before an arrest warrant is issued "in my name" for unpaid taxes. Nasty scheme could scare hell out of pensioners or people on their own, and fraudulently extract their money of course.

The caller called a client of mine stating that the Federal Police have been called for an outstanding tax debt. The client has no debt with the ATO.
This number appears to be a new scam telephone number.

Robo call - supposedly from tax office threatening arrest unless I contacted them immediately. I called back with my caller ID blocked and got an immediate hang up

This is a fraudulent call. DO NOT REPLY. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO. DO NOT CALL BACK otherwise they will have your number and threaten you again. It is a SCAM. They are NOT from the ATO or AFP. These organisations will NOT threaten you with an arrest warrant. We are not America. Delete the message and move on with your lives. They appear to be targeting the older generation. Be aware and look after yourself peoples, never give out your private tax info out to anyone.

Scammer claiming to be from Federal Police going to arrest me re: Ato. There should be a Law against people inpersonating Government departments.Its a shame the Federal Police can't arrest him for trying to steal off people.

Rang the number back on no ID number.

Recorded message, now check all nos do not know before pick up receiver, a lot of elderly people could get upset with this type of message, am on do not call register but still get these rotten scammers.

Left robo Vmail on the phone of my 96 year old mother saying warrant had been issued for her arrest and to call the number before it was executed!

that they were calling from the australian federal police where a complaint had been made agaInst me and that a warrant had been issued for my arrrest I hung up and tried to report to the police

Usual ATO-has-launched-legal-action garbage. As with all these, I use Telstra's online call management features to divert the number back to itself, or to another known scam number. Sure, it costs a little, but it gives me satisfaction :)

I had a voicemail left from the 14/3 to call (02) 8003 3700 claiming to be from the ATO urgent otherwise they will file a lawsuit against me. I didn't call back and have just checked the internet to see if others have had similar calls.

About a tax debt. Fortunately my 95 year old mother would have normally answered it > Could have had a death on our hands as she has only just come out of surgery. Greed overrules peoples lives again.
