Obviously these criminals are allowed to operate without consequences owing to the inept, corrupt and stupid government regulators and the accountants and lawyers that set them up.

Yet again,
Probably raising money for some sort of criminal activity. Stealing a legitimate number in itself is an act of terror IMHO. And impersonating legitimate is as well. I think there should be similar sentences as terrorists for all this stuff to create a deterrent. Like people smugglers but a mandatory 20 year no parole period. This is not some poor villager begging for bread. They are underground criminals stealing money, identity etc and doing business with the worst criminals on earth.
Why isn't Telstra and ACMA and the fed govt doing their job ?
Why does the tax payer still have to throw money in the bin to keep the do not call register alive, given it stopped being relevant a decade agao? This white elephant has once again hidden during the waste audit. It is the job of telcos and ACMA to stop this crap. We are paying twice and still getting no relief. Shut the DNCR down, now. Telstra (or your telco allowing this sh*t through) should be refunding part of your phone bills until the poison stops.

Is there anyone in Australia that does not know these scum callers. How stupid to say they are from the Visa/Mastercard dept. They are 2 separate companies. I like to play along for as long as possible but they know pretty quick your are not their intended pray. I feel sorry for any Indian living in this country for the embarrassment these sh*t heads cause them.

I also received a call at home, from this number....But they hung up after getting my answering machine. After writing the number down and details of time date etc .i instinctively knew this number was a dodgy one bc of all the "0"'s mostly. Im sick to death of getting these numbers and I will never answer any calls coming in, and then I let it go to answering machine, they quickly hang up. I never ring back but search the number and if need to, I do another search of the place if they say they're from but this rarely never happens.

Male caller with Indian accent claiming to be from Telstra, saying his name was Ryan. When asked what his real name was, said Raj then apologized for the call, saying he only took the job because of chronic unemployment. I can't help feeling sorry for these people, they're certainly between a rock and a hard place.

I am with Pierce Toff and his comments on this number.
How does it occur that a key pillar of our national economy and economic security can be so easily accessed and legit numbers used to undertake criminal activity?

We had the last Government grinding its teeth over a Chinese company bidding for deploy of our 5G network because of security concerns . Why?

Our telco security is no existent.

When I saw the number come up I knew this was a scammer as they have been increasing in the past couple of weeks. I never answer any of them and none leave a message. I simply report them all to the Government ACCC Scamwatch online, at least they will do something about it. Any unfamiliar numbers I get, I do not answer.

Claimed to be from Telstra, said his name was Kevin. When asked what his real name was, got angry and said he didn't want to continue the call. When the number was called back a recorded message said that the number was not connected.
