Caller (female voice) wanting donation for cancer. She said that they are currently focusing on prostate, breast, & ovarian cancer. According to the caller they were looking for a $100 or $150 donation which was allegedly for supporting patient(s) but none of it for research. I will NOT DONATE until I verify the CALLER is NOT a SCAMMER & then I expect at least some of my donation will go to cancer research. I said "Good afternoon & goodbye" to the caller & hung up.

I have received a number of calls from this number and extensions of this number eg. (02) 7908 7744, 41,43,45 etc. When they do answer when you pick up, it sounds like a person but really it's an AI (artificial intelligence) recording clever enough to pause and note when you are not responding. These are scammers trying to get money out of people. Please delete and block the numbers. Other times you answer and they hang up on you.

...and another call a day later from the same identical number. Time to block it. The caller is getting lazy by not routinely changing the number.

This scam calling number seems to have become very activate in March 2023. The number is similar to others that have recently harassed me. I didn't bother to answer after checking the highly informative entries of fellow contributors to reverseaustralia.com. Thanks!

Agree with previous comment, will only donate via local appeals, feel that means it goes to the right charity

Caller: I live in Sth Aus and am always getting calls beginning with 02 or 03 - always obvious scam or false charity calls. Now I don't answer them and put call block immediately. Still getting several calls a day from different numbers beginning with 02 and 03!!!

If a call is from an unknown or unsolicited number I don't answer.
If its an important call they will leave a message which I can then verify to be from a legitimate caller and ring back on a legitimate phone number that I have looked up myself.
There are so many scam calls now that people have to be very careful - never give your name or any personal details, especially financial ones over the phone. Hang up on unsolicited phone calls if they ask for personal details or money!

I didn't pick up but on recall to the cid it's yet another breast cancer charity SCAM. Philipino-American accent on the recorded voice that says 'we don't take calls.' Pity, I was all set to part with $1K of my hard-earned. 🙂

Pretty low bar. Particularly annoyed by this one as I raise funds for Prostate Cancer help and research.

Thanks to reverseaustralia contributors, I ignored this repeat scam call. Waste of space.

Another unfamiliar number, I never answer these as they are always scammers.

I received this phone call on a landline that I no longer use as a phone line, but instead as an internet connection. I have turned off any chance of them leaving a message, which would confirm the phone number is legit. The landline system also has a system that can block callers. When any call comes through on that phone I block the number on the basis that anyone who really is keen to contact me would know I only have a mobile phone number and 'officially' no landline number. I have also noted the message on 13 March 2023, where they have advised there's a list of the same type of issue [(02) 7908 7744, 41,43,45 etc.] so with that help I'll try to include those extended numbers into at least my mobile phone. Same person keeps calling me although I told her I did not want to receive phone calls of this nature. Different last two digits but recognised voice when she eventually spoke. SAME request for money last time she was very pushy have blocked this number with the other one she uses. I spend more time hanging up/refusing call and blocking these numbers than I have to waste. Cold calling charities should stop - most people will donate in other ways given the chance. Last time she argued it was the only effective way the charity could raise money and in the next breath dropped the amount to 30 a month.....This is harassment and there are laws against this!

I agree with the comments relating to giving to local collectors, hopefully more of what I give goes to the intended recipients.

When i answered the phone ,i got bugger all. Then the phone went dead.
