Didn't identify themselves on our Telstra Guardian phone, which heads off a lot of scammers. They left a message that read: "Please select the button to the artificial service. Press 1 for English. Press 2 for Chinese." That message is mentioned on Reverse AU as having been used in June 2024 by a scammer supposedly calling from (07) 3088 8846 to target those who engage with advertisements online. Why is there no legislation that compels the telcos to do something about all their obsolete landlines being used by scammers?

Claims to be from Vodafone, but hangs up because I asked why Vodafone would be calling me but speaking mandarin to me!
