I also received a phone call from this number , but left no message. I always check on the number via reverse phone call. It is a scam.

Calls threatening legal action (for a supposed financial debt), from ATO if I didn't immediately reply. Back ground noise sounded like a call centre and caller had an Asian accent. Of course I ignored the bastards and immediately put a block on the number, then checked this very re - -assuring website by googling the ph number.Thank you.

They seem to be very active, I have had a call four times in four days. It would be good if Telstra could do something to block any calls from this number getting through the exchange.

Scammer claiming to be ATO Police notified

Received two calls from two difference numbers: (02) 8488 1011 and (02) 6188 5620. The first one told me that I have outstanding taxation debts and I would be arrested if I didn't pay. The second one told me that that my husband committed a crime! He has to call him immediately. I have reported the first one to ATO as scam and the second one here. Both of them have American Filipino accents.

My wife received a call from (02) 6188 5620 on June 12th 2017....claiming to be John Carlo from the ATO, telling her that the ATO Auditors had uncovered a discrepancy...and if it wasn't paid immediately, a warrant would be issued for her arrest.
We called the ATO Scam line and reported it...and confirmed that there is no outstanding debt.

Received a phone call that went dead so i called the number back, The man answered in an Asian accent. I had to prompt him to tell me what the company name was (ATO) before he hung up on me. I called him back again we exchanged Hello's and then got a silent call for about 2 mins before he hung up again

received a message from an automated service threatening legal action in an american accent. called the number back the next day to be told this was the ATO and i was speaking with the chief officer, they tried to say my name was mr bruce etc and i didnt play their game. the ato will send letters if you owe them money not threatening calls from a Filipino call center.
