I just got the recorded message, rung back straight away, an Indian saying I was to be arrested for tax fraud!

Got a call this morning from (02) 6176 1418 saying its the tax office and to call back or police will come at my door...haha yep, a scam!

Robotic call..same deal ..call back to stop prosecution .....

First received an automated phone message to contact this number to avoid police officer coming to my home or work place. When I called back I was told that I commited tax fraud and that I was charged with various offences such as Violation of Australian Tax and Federal Tax laws. The Indian Caller was pretty convincing until I asked for verification and he stated a wrong address...the offer was to pay the oustanding tax debt to avoid court and arrest (there was a warrant for my arrest with the police he said lol). Don't fall for these a...holes... just trying to get your money.

Recorded voice pretending to be from ATO

Ring back and it goes unanswered - no big surprise

Got a robocall, synthesized voice saying that I am being prosecuted by the Australian Tax office and that I or my Barrister needed to call this number. Super scam central, if I do, I am sure that some friendly Indian or Fillipino call centre will relieve me of my credit card details to make it all go away! Interesting the cybercriminals are now using robocalls, they have joined the politicians!

According to my mobile phone this number is in Canberra. I think this is a recently exposed scam where a recorded message request you phone the tax office before the police arrive at your door.
