Received 6 calls from this number today. This number calls; then hangs up and then a couple of seconds later calls back. When you answer it goes to a voice recording stating to be from ATO Department of Public Prosecutions advising a call to them on the same number is required urgently. In the background you can hear an Indian/Pakistani accent.

Called today 2/9/16-have called before-Total scam-claiming to be DPP on behalf of ATO.
My taxes are perfect- already got my refund for this year and threatening phone calls are against all government protocols. This is happening so much some poor simple people obviously fall for it- sad!

I received this phone call from (02) 6169 1043 this morning with a strange message from the Tax Office. I called and the person was identified as Ray Hamilton ID number 23894 case number AB7757, saying I had to pay $ 988 for a mistake in 2012. But as I mentioned the police to investigate, it closed the communication and when I call it no longer responds' . I called the police who said that surely it is a SCAM.

Called today and left a voicemail that's pre recorded saying I was going to lose my home and to call back immediately, haha when I called back he hung up on me

I too have received a call from: (02) 6169 1099 - no question about it - ATO SCAM. Don't entertain this mob, Just ignore them...

Received a voice mail saying final warning as stated by other people also on other comments - I called back and guys could hardly speak English and were rude and were threatening and even supervisor said am I joking when I said to send email to me or send information to my postal address as if they are legitimate then they should have my details there. The supervisor then hung up

Message read....I missed a call from (02) 6169 1012 who said " this is a final warning from Australian Taxation office on behalf Commonwealth director of public." Glad I missed it.

these calls are clearly attempts to defraud so must be illegal.The number is from the ACT so is internal to AU.why is this tolerated by the Authorities?

These guys called my 15yr old daughter who doesn't even have so mich as a Tax File number claiming she owed momey. Total scam

Multiple calls from scammer posing as Aus Tax office. Even after blocking number, somehow leaves multiple voicemails every hour.

these calls are ridiculous and so annoying. how can we stop this? They use a different number each day. seems to be prefixed with (02)

I got much the same type of call. Why don't the police prosecute these people?

Got 2 missed call and called back. Indian accent guy told me I got debt with ATO. I asked him if he represent ATO he got upset. Told me if I thought it was a joke and hung up. Its definitely is a scam.

these scammers pretended they were from ATO and asked my wife for her name and personal details, she gave her name but when she became suspicious of the accent she disconnected the call. After that she received approx. 20 missed calls from different numbers and hidden numbers and received 2 voicemails as well. These voicemails are full of sexual abuse and threats which i have reported to the police.

DO NOT waste your time answering or bother calling back. Automated voicemail left stating they are from Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions calling on behalf of the ATO.
Male who barely speaks English (Indian) then proceeds to tell you that ATO is filling a lawsuit against you due to fraudulent activity with your taxes.

Received a call from this number (02) 6169 1012 with electronic message to call back from department of public prosecutions... they then told me that I was being prosecuted for tax evasion.. when I told them my tax was up to date they became aggressive and told me I would be arrested that day unless I pay a fee to extend my trial date. the barrister on the phone line told me he was happy to stay on the line WHILE I drove to the shop to purchase a prepaid Visa card to pay a fee so they could extend my FEDERAL court case... um... HELLO!!!!!
Total scam... HAVE TO SAY THOUGH that the beginning of the conversation sounded legitimate... especially when I stated there was some confusion and they have the wrong person... they sprout employee IDS AND CASE IDS... can see how some of the oldies are getting caught out with this...

Got completely harassed by these people today... voice recording saying it was my last warning... spoke to both ATO and department of prosecution and it's a scam...
