Someone who said they were from the ATO, who had a lawsuit against me (news to me!), and did I have an attorney?

A friend received a call from this number, supposedly the ATO - Australian Tax Office, informing him they are starting a law suite against him and to call back immediately on the above number .
No1. The ATO do not divulge and leave these sort of unsolicited calls.
No2. It was computer generated,with an American accent.
No3. Australia does not use the term ' law suite' that's an American term,we use the term 'legal proceedings'
No4 He's only been in business 13 weeks,so ????

Exactly same thing happened to me.

Yes, I received the same message on 18th September. American accent saying they are the ATO and that they are filing a lawsuit against me.

It's a SPAMMER pretending to be ATO. Fake.

Yes, an overseas automated call saying the ATO is proceeding with a lawsuit. Good luck with that.

I received an automated message from an unknown caller stating that this was a final notice that the ATO has a case against me and to call "(02) 6152 8687" but assume that the recording maybe said or should have said (02) 6152 8687.

I logged into myGov and see no messages to me from the ATO, nor have I received anything in the post in writing, which would be the way that the ATO would contact someone in the first case I think.

Seems like a scam to me.

Just got a call from this number - someone in a very strong American accent, claiming I was being sued, and was told to ring a number that started with 2 and sounded like a phone number in the U.S. Clearly scam artists.
