received a call today on mobile was a recording indicating that i and my wife had a warrant for our arrest for outstanding fines from ato. Then they called again within 20/30 mins was an Indian male voice saying that he was from the ato ,about outstanding tax payment and wanted our current address details, i said if you are ato you have our current details then started to give address that was 20 yrs old in another state. So be careful everyone was trying to get details as well of a bank details. As soon as i said you are a scammer he hung up.

Scam as everybody has realised. With the money that Govts and Public Servants receive wouldn't you think they could wipe out scammers. Scammers should spend their time helping the poor people of the world, not their own pockets.

CRIMINAL SCAMMERS! recorded message, threatening male voice, threatening legal action over scam false ATO matter, I think these are the scammers who try to get you to buy i-tunes cards as exposed by The Checkout on ABC tv. These calls amount to 2 criminal offenses: Misuse of a telecommunications device and inflicting mental and emotional abuse.THIS IS A SCAM! Must be very upsetting for old or vulnerable people. Utterly disgusting.

Advises an arrest warrant will be issued for unpaid taxes and to phone this number to resolve the issue. Why are these fraudsters not being tracked down and dealt with?

Recorded message (in well-spoken English). Usual tax scare, arrest warrants etc. They give this number to ring, so presumably the number works otherwise the scam would be pointless.

I feel sorry for the naive or elderly who get this sort of stuff. Probably quite distressing.

What a disgusting message! Saying they're from the tax office and there will be a warrant out for my arrest. 'Don't ignore!' the caller exclaims. Somebody get hold of these A-holes!

My daughter received a call, very distressing, as she is ill. Mans voice said executing a warrant, from Tax Office, she doesn't work. Legal case, etc etc, we rang back the number and it doesn't answer.

Same as above. AFP calling on behalf of the tax office re outstanding debt but they just say 'you have an outstanding warrant' so it's a general call that goes to everyone they contact.
