It is in a suspect scam e-mail, a non-existing ebay order for 4 gift cards.

Caller: We do not have a zip pay account and did not purchase the gift cards. It is obviously a scam.

We received a suspect email incorporating an invoice from Zip pay (no account) for Myer gift cards. The contact number on the invoice was (02) 6100 3527. It is obviously a scam.

Caller: Email qatarjones8739 @ gmail.com

We received an email from Zip Pay (email: qatarjones8739 @ gmail.com) giving a support number of (03) 5294 0545 to say we have purchased 2 eGift Cards for a total of $500 plus tax. If we wish to cancel, call within 24 hours or we would be charged. We figured it was a scam, but I gave the number a call - when I asked who I was talking to I was told eBay (Indian sounding chap, huge static on the line). I asked who he was, he kept repeating eBay Ma'am! Eventually he gave a name of James - hmmmmm! I asked where he was calling from because of all the line static, I asked several times, but he would not say. He just kept asking for the invoice number (I didn't hand this out - two can play at that game). He then changed tack and suggested if I could give him details of a close friend who might like the cards - at which point, I laughed heartily at him and told him he was a bleep bleep scammer and a total wanker - hung up. I am naturally wary of such things, but I worry for the older generation who are not so savvy - particularly computer technology. Ours is an ageing household with little knowledge of such things - without intervention, this scam could have worked!!!

Sending false invoices for gift cards. So far Ebay and Zip. I suspect they got my details thru Optus or Medibank data breach.
