Scammers. I got two calls from a recorded message telling me they were from the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecution HQ in Canberra and the ATO wanted to sue me, to call back this number.
It's a scam. ATO sends letters, not threatening phone calls.
I called the ATO to report it and they said it's quote prolific at the moment. Please spread the word -- don't be alarmed, this is a scam.

Caller: A woman calling herself Martina from the "DONOT call register" She wanted to confirm personal details to see if I was still getting nuisance calls, hers was one obviously a fraud. I asked her for her name and phone number: (02) 6100 3385, she was obviously not Australian for she did not even know that the 2 was for 02 for a Sydney number?! probably spoofed... Told her I'll check it out and ring back. Where is the telecommunications ombudsman and his henchmen when you need them, to put these scammers out of business,

Caller: A woman I had woman ring last week and say she was from Telstra..... I asked straight away for a return number I could to check that she was from Telstra..... after half a minute or so, she came back and told me (02) 6100 3385. I didn't ring back, but googled number, and found all these mentions. So many thanks to everyone, and tell your friends, and don't get caught and tell them anything. Ask for a number you can ring them back on, then google it!

ATO sends letters, not threatening phone calls. Therefore it should be a scam. If you call back, they may use your phone number according to their ethics.

My wife also received the same message on our phone today and was in a panic. She tried to call them back! I told her it was a scam. When we went through it: the poor English; the fact that we were called but had never received a letter in advance; the threat that "our home is under surveillance [pronounced on the recording as surv-eye-llance]" because we owed money!?!, she conceded that it didn't make sense but under the pressures of today and coming home to the recording she "lost it".

Had 3 recorded messages from 3 different automated voices so called the number & argued with the Indian accented man. I said I was reporting him to police but he said they can't do anything & couldn't guarantee they won't call again. If the police can't do anything then who is going to arrest me?? If I'm arrested for fraud then why couldn't he guarantee they won't call again. He hung up when I told him he was a scam so I called him back. We argued again before he again hung up. I rang again and after a number of clicks I only got dial tone. Shortly after I got a lady call with the same message. Are these people dangerous? I want to pester them the amount of times they pester me but obviously don't want them finding where I live. I even asked what information they were looking for but he'd had enough of me by then & hung up. LOL

Got a phone message from this number threatening ATO prosecution unless I returned the call. Sounded like an Indian lady and a scam. Anyone else have a phone call from this number??

This number has been verified to be a SCAM, protending to be the ATO or DPP. If you call or receive a call from this number, tell them they have been reported to ScamWatch and Australian Police. Never give personal information over the phone.

This came up on my caller ID as an overseas number, totally different to this number. All ATO numbers begin with 13 or 1300 so this is not the ATO as claimed, it is a scam.
