This number is being used to send and receive calls (included automated computer-voice messages) in the service of an ATO Tax Crime scam, seeking to elicit money in payment of a bogus "fine".

The calls are fraudulent, there is no "ATO Tax Crime Division" and no "Office John Smith" and ATO do not issue arrest warrants or on the spot fines in lieu of arrest.

Calls from these scammers should be ignored!

Do not call back - ato tax crime scam

I received an recorded message from this number saying that it was John Smith from the ATO crimes unit & to ring this number back as it was a time sensitive issue.
I should of clicked now that I look at the name left.
I rang the number I was asked what my name was then asked for a card number or memory number I couldn't hear him that well, when I asked why he needed that he hung up. I tried to ring back to see who they were they wouldn't answer.
