Scammer - Computer generated call advising they were the Australian Taxation Office and I needed to call them back to give them details or I would be responsible for consequences. Do not give them any details. Report them to the ATO.

Scam still going on - Received call today trying to get information.

A few of us have been having fun with "tom" the bloke behind the calls. He's currently being spammed with calls back and he isn't taking it too well.

Received a call yesterday from 61003038 and again today from 61003039, claiming to be agent Tom Black from the taxation department and looking for a payment of $3875. Telling me a i have 2 options either i can take this inside the court house or they can send an agent to my house to take direct payment and provide me with all the paperwork. They could only tell me my name and an old address... no other details..... SCAM!!!!!!!!.... now that i think about it, I should have taken the option to have someone visit my house so I could beat the crap out of them!

Damn it, they just got me.

I only gave them my mobile number (which they must have already had since they texted me to call, then i gave them my first name and hung up when i released something was wrong?

got this call today and decided to call them back. they hung up on me and blocked my number when i questioned them.
called back again with another number and told them i had a large pizza order for them and was just verifying the order.

He called me today from (02) 6100 3038. When I called back (knew it was a scam in advance), he said he was Agent David Brown. I just said I was reporting him to the police, and he told me to F off :)

I too was contacted by this number, its a scam trying to get money out of you with threats of police action!!

Got a call telling me I hadn't filed company taxes properly from 2008-2013. They were able to identify me, address, company name etc. told me I would need to hire a lawyer.
When I kept on saying "yes" then they eventually hung up.

Got a call from them today as well. d*ckheads!

they tried to scam me on Friday. Very persistent. Clair they were from ATO tax fraud and had an affidavit for my arrest. Told me to stay on line, withdraw cash from post office and they would come and collect it from me immediately, if i wanted to settle this matter out of court. I told them to speak to my tax adviser and hung up. These guys have been scamming a lot of people apparently.

Everyone should ring scam watch 1300 795 995... id hate for my grandmother to be scammed by these guys. they should rot in jail. disgusting act

scammers report to federal police and ATO

I too have received this. Stupidly rang them back but realised that it was a scam before I gave them any personal information.

Now they are claiming they are from the ATO Crime division. As soon as I ask why the ATO hasn't contact me direct, they became angry.
Just hang up, they are not worth the time.

Scam. Once i told them that I will call ATO to check what this was about they threatened to send police to me..

Still going - got a call from this dodgy mob this morning and it went to voicemail with a recorded message threatening legal action if I did not contact them. Called it back from work, some random guy answered with a LOT of background noise. He said he was with the ATO department which I knew was bull; you never go directly to a person in ATO :)

Did a bit of further research, seems like this was going since March, and they still haven't caught them....


Alert: Hoax CDPP phone calls

Unsolicited phone calls have been reported to this Office by members of the public. Calls received claim to be from the Canberra Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP). The call appears to be a pre-recorded message requesting people to contact ‘the office on (02) 6100 3027 in relation to a tax fraud warrant’.

The calls are not from a member of the CDPP’s office and the number ‘(02) 6100 3027’ is not associated with the CDPP. These calls appear to be a scam being perpetrated on the public.

The matter has been referred to the Australian Federal Police (AFP) and is now being investigated.

We advise people to be vigilant when receiving phone calls of this nature and if in doubt about the authenticity of a call that you receive from the CDPP, contact us on one of our publically listed phone numbers or email inquiries @ cdpp.gov.au.
