Caller: Scam Text message: “Your OTP is 217192 for 852.20 AUD to AIRBNB. if this was NOT you, please call us on (02) 5016 2595 urgently.” - Caller ID came up as “-COMM.” Obvious scam, we don’t use AirBnB nor do we have Commbank, lol.

Caller: Craig Hall from CBA This number was rung in response to an SMS saying there was a one time payment OTP to Airbnb. We run a holiday let property and pay Airbnb regularly, but by way of deduction from revenue, i.e. plausible, but a suspect transaction. Called the number and got a CBA recorded message [legitimate sounding, same voice as CBA female voice] got through to Craig Hall, who asked to verify information, etc, pretty much as normal. Came unstuck when said there was a potential; fraudulent transaction on a CC and they needed to cancel the cards. When asked which specific cards, as there were more than one, he couldn't answer. Clever attempt, and we are vigilant about spurious text messages etc.

Masquerading as Commonwealth Bank via a text message about a payment authorisation. Once called they obtain your credit card details.
