Begins in English, then switches to Chinese, who knows??

Missed call from number, rang back and got an automated message saying they are from “China Taiping Insurance”, saying all their agents are on another line and that my call will be answered shortly. Hung up as it is most likely a Scam

I heard Chinese so I just screamed NI HAO into my mobile until the slippery little slopes hung up.

I get a lot of these calls. This one gave location as Newcastle, although most I get are from Sydney and occasionally from Melbourne. Asks for language selection then bangs away in Chinese. I don't answer them anymore! These are local numbers on our local network, so ultimately, I think the telco's are responsible to reign this problem in. A bloody nuisance!

Called back. Synthesized Australian female voice says "Thank you for calling China Shipping Insurance. All operators are busy. Please hold" and goes straight to music. Did not bother waiting. Did I reach the same people who called me? Inconclusive.

Typical scammers' scare tactics. Recorded message tells me something terrible will happen unless I press 1 to speak to someone in English or 2 for Chinese. I pressed 1 for English and was answered in Chinese, and promptly asked "Why am I being spoken to in Chinese after I pressed 1 for English?" Female voice replies, "Do you speak Chinese?" and I respond, "No, I just said that!" And I am promptly hung up on. Android then offers to block the number, which I honestly think is a bit pointless given that they are so often spoofed.
