My mother was playing a solitaire game on her computer and she clicked on an ad that popped up and interested her. It was a ransomware attempt, and this phone number came up.
I rebooted her computer and thankfully no damage was done.

My mother was playing a solitaire game on her computer when a popup came up saying she could get rid of the ads. She clicked the no button and a "Windows Defender" text box came up saying her computer was locked and to call the above phone number to have "Windows Engineers" help her unlock it. More popups started opening saying they were downloading her passwords, banking credentials, etc. She rang me in a panic and I told her to reboot her computer, as she has her own anti virus so Windows Defender is disabled. It booted up perfectly without the lockdown this message purported, and without any of her passwords or banking credentials compromised.

Was working on my laptop when popup with Microsoft branding told me to call this number as my IP address had been used to access sites involved with identity theft. Told my device had been locked as a protection. Same message
given by voice. Managed to turn off laptop using Control + Alt + Delete

Said I had been hacked and were from Windows trying to help me

spam - sounds from o/seas - wants to give quote for data/phone - hung up on

Caller: "John"

Wanted to speak to manager about a business proposition. Didn't say who he was from

Dodgy scammer

When you call the number back, it is not in service. Must be dodgy as spoofed. number is consistent though as had same number for past 3 business days.

I received a call from this number. Tried to call back, and message that number is disconnected.
