Like many others, I wrongly blamed NSW SES Volunteers Association for these calls- see above. My unconditional apologies to them.
After several rounds of phone calls, I have now found that the NRMA home security system with back to base monitoring used the number (02) 1345 0068 and failed to change it on systems that disconnected that service. As the phone line is still connected at the residence to the remote monitoring site, it keeps dialing (02) 1345 0068 when it is no more the right number.
So check with your home security company to address this issue. They should if they are decent business take responsibility for this issue.

The problem relates to home security systems dialing out to 13450068 which was the number used previously for remote monitoring installed in 2003.
Apologies to the NSW SES/Volunteers who do an excellent job.

I called 1300 707 344 and told them to stop their unethical practice of making calls on reverse charges and billing our account.I have incurred 40 call charges just in the last 30 days from NSW SES.

this number comes up on my bill 4 to 5 times a month (approx once a week at eh exact same time of day) looking over my bills this has been happening for quite some time 6+ months). i am not calling this number. i am being charged for 1300 number call rate. today i tried calling it with the 02 area code. says number is disconnected. tried calling 13450068. all i got was a series of long and short beeps.

It is the SES volunteer line. We had it as well. Call 1300 707 344 (NSW) and they will take you off the list. Go to your phone carrier to get the charges removed.
