I received a call from 'Australian Broadband Network" claiming that my computer had been infected. I was suspicious right from the start but decided to play along with them, but determined not to connect to any websites. After following a number of their suggested actions I was led to opening my "Run" box and type www.teamviewer.com".
At this point the Teamviewer website opened and I was asked to download the Teamviewer software. At this point I told them to ####OFF and hung up.
Subsequent enquiries has shown that this is a legitimate site and their program is used to gain remote access to computers and is sometimes used by scammers to steal passwords .banking details etc.Later I retrieved the caller number (0442 624 522 from my phone and called it only to be told that the number was not connected.
