Appears to be linked to a scam where a screen pops up on the browser and lists this as a fake support number. Rang the number and was told it was a worldwide "windows technical support" service

Almost just got scammed by this same mob. They showed screens saying my computer was so corrupted and would take hours to fix. Than they asked for money and that was it for me. Clicked out of everything they had up, went into McAffee and found my computer is clean. As soon as someone asks for money just hang up and do a Google search.

Tha same thing has happened to my MAC. How did you fix it?

A screen popped up on my MAC and my screen was frozen.
I called the number and he asked me to let him into my computer so he could fix it.

I said I need to speak to my partner and he said no I need to fix it right now.
I said bye and hung up.

I got a popup last night requesting I call these people as it stated someone was trying to scam my IP address. I rang the number and asked what company they were from. He was very evasive, just stating it was a technical support company. He asked me did I do any banking or online shopping on my computer and I told him I did. He then started asking for details and I said "hang on, I don't even know who I'm talking to". He said "well you rang me". I terminated the call.
