Caller: Debt Collector - CLH Group Account Representative

Simon contacted our company. Not the best phone message/recording. Needs some training with confidence. When contacted back, staff very cagey about disclosing who they are. Sounded like a scam, when speaking with the person who answered the phone not a foreign voice but had an Australian voice. Normally would have ignored if it was a foreign scam. Being Australian I investigated further. After asking more than 3 times what the name of their company was, they still wouldn't tell me, kept on insisting i give reference no before they could disclose their company's name, due to Privacy Law. How is not saying who your company is a breach of the Privacy Acts? After I got her to give me the initials of the company I googled it to see it was a legitamate Australian Firm. Then I was granted information even though I no longer work for the company. So much for the Privacy Acts. They are chasing a debt it was regarding a telstra account 1 month overdue. No reminder email from Telstra.
Confirmed. Questionable that Telstra sent outstanding invoice and amount for under $800.00 directly to this company to chase. It would have been cheaper to send a reminder email. We have always paid our bills. this will unfairly reflect on a credit report. Just doesn't make sense. I rang the company owner and advised him of the call. Seems CLH Group may need some upskilling plus Telstra could look at how much money they are throwing away on unskilled debt collection. It would have been cheaper and quicker to send a reminder email rather than triggering these unnecessary events and involving people that it has nothing to do with.
