Caller: Fake Microsoft tech support Browser suddenly gets covered with security warnings from "Microsoft" and locks your screen. You are told to call this number to unlock it. "Tech support" person supposedly guides you to the command prompt and asks for information.

Popup warning on computer says it is from Microsoft and to call this number. It is a scam, Microsoft do not solicit business. These popups occur due to an unwanted browser extension called GOOGLE DOCS OFFLINE - open each browser you have and manage extensions - disable this extension and popups do not occur again. I have done computer support for 5 years and this is the one recurring theme to computer popup messages. No one needs such an extension and expecially this one that spams users. The next step to calling this number is an indian person pretending to fix your computer, they then want $300 or more, they insist on online payment, they capture your bank log in details, then bank accounts are raided for very large amounts if possible. People have told me they avoided money loss by using a debit account with minimal money online, one insisted on an invoice but they backed off, others detect the scam because they take so long on the computer.

This claims to be a Microsoft support number. Can anyone confirm this?
