Guy, David, when pressed said from Melbourne Telstra. (I did give him options though - "Melbourne, Sydney etc") Wanting to talk about our internet! We are not with Telstra! Gave me this number which apparently is a Telstra number as I said I'd call back. Yeah, right :) Noted that he did not give me his surname so I could check it out properly.

Received multiple text messages like this....each with a different “one-time code.

Hi, your Telstra one-time code is 598214. If you didn't request this, call us on 13 2200.

This is scam, Telstra's number is 132000 not 132200

Delete and do not response.

Do not call/contact this number: 132200, they are scammers.

Supposedly from Telstra, telling me my internet service has problems. I do not have a Telstra account. The caller wanted to guide me through a process on a computer. Totally a scam to infect your computer with a link to hack into your computer. Can the government stop these scam callers from calling? Older people can easily become victims as they are not computer savvy.

Caller: Jessica Wiilliams From Telstra

Jessica Williams strikes again. Telstra Id this time is TLD860057. Same story about being hacked but when I asked her if she wanted my Linux machine fired up, she got flustered. Told me to ring 132200 on my mobile while she held on on landline. I refused and she eventually hung up.

Some guy with an Indian accent called me at 8:00 p.m. on a week night. He said my internet was going to to be turned off. I asked him for his name, employee number and a callback number. He said his name was "John David" and he said his employee ID was D833495... but then he gave me 13 22 00 instead of the correct Telstra number.. So I said: "Oh.. 13 22 00? Okay.. well I guess you'll have to turn off my internet then. BUH BYE"

Caller: Jessica Williams - said she was from Telstra - had strong asian accent

Called me twice on (02) 9986 4798 and gave me her "Telstra ID" as TLD860052 at 242 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC. Gave contact number 13 2200. She said my internet had been hacked and wanted to talk me through the process on my computer to check. When I refused, she got very rude, told me to "get lost" and hung up on me. I am also on "Do not call" - does it even work with the NBN?

This IS NOT Telstra’s number. Are you a scammer too?? If so go get a real job and stop stealing money from people who’ve actually worked for a living.

132200 is the genuine Telstra enquiry number in Australia, unfortunately it was spoofed by scammers during the later part of the NBN changeover.

Caller: Telscum.

Telstra hijacked my 90 year old father's phone with a long message saying he has to arrange internet with them (nbn rollout). It was definitely Telstra as I rang them and abused them. They said it was a government requirement to leave the long message. My father had heart and kidney problems and was urgently trying to call me as I live next door. This happened a few years ago he since passed and I am still very bitter about them. Telstra lie and cheat and scam all the time so yes it is a scam call especially if it comes from Telstra.

It is Telstra. It's their normal customer service number. That text is from Telstra but means someone has tried to do something on your account and thats why a verification code was sent

132200 IS Telstra's number. Ppl who say it's not, are you scamming or just lazy? Don't take my word for it- check the website of any business before calling them - don't just rely on forums where scammers and the stupid lurk.

132200 IS Telstra's phone number. It's on the legitimate Telstra website. Where did you get this other number from? Are you sure haven't mixed the fake and real numbers up? Services like Telstra often repeat numbers in their number - 22 and 00. I encourage everyone to check the Telstra website before taking any other advice here.

Caller: Supposed Telstra but its not

Lady by the name of Shelley with an indian accent tried to tell us we have hacking of our internet and phone line. She tried to tell me she was genuine by giving me her supposed ID number and the supposed Telstra number of 132200 but of course that is not Telstra is a Scammer business. So I hung up. She tried calling again. Its a Sydney number that comes up on your phone. Beware, don't respond, don't call back and don't give any details.

I got a call from a random number in Sydney saying they were telstra just as i was going to bed. They were asking for my details to close a case and if I didn’t give them details they would continue to keep calling me. Thick Indian accent saying her name was Monica said she had all my details already and proceeded to send me a blank email from enquires @ support-team.telstra.com i was not sure so I called them through the app and got another heavy Indian accent lady from Melbourne who told me it was not a scam. I then received a call from the Monica the original lady and it turns out it was Telstra. Apparently they all have different numbers. But i had no problem in the first place? Why would they call me so many times? Why cant they verify whether it is them properly? Just be cautious and make sure they don’t want anything from you.
