I actually checked with St George on their normal 13 33 30 number and they confirmed it was their collections department so it does seem to be a legit call although I have no accounts with St George so they must have my number by mistake

Got a call today from blocked umber they claimed to be from St George bank and gave me 1300 303 110 to call back on. This number is not on the St George website so feels like a scam to me, they have been calling for weeks and this is the first time I have picked up

Call from private number and was a little suspicious so I asked if I could call back. Was given this number. I called the regular St George number and they verified that their collections dept had called me so it turned out it was actually St George.

Im not sure why people above are saying it's not St George as in my case it was verified straight away when I called customer service, they transferred me over and I figure out what the call was about straight away.

I have received 3 calls now from blocked private number. 2 where guys and the other female, all with heavy Indian accents saying that there from st George bank and need to know my full name and date of birth for security purposes before they could talk to me about private bank business. I also got a call at my home number which is private and not in my name at all so how did they find that out ??? . Something's pretty fishy I didn't give them anything except questions which they could not answer. Scam 4 sure

I got one today on my one listed home number (which is my parents) claiming it was from St George (I have no account with them but Bank Sa, who I do have with, Is part of St George). No number given, said they were a "DBM" consultant. I called St George on their listed number and no call log to me was made and the man has no idea what sort of consultant that is nor can I find any "DBM" listed.

I have had numerous calls from people wth an Indian accent, always claiming to be from St George bank; they start off the conversation by asking for my date of birth, to verify who I am.
When I tell them that I think it's a scam, they suggest I call them back on 1300 303 110... when I call the number, they wheel-out a pre-recorded St George Bank message (anyone can do this) ... when I ask them for an email address - they don't have one??? I ask them for their direct landline number - of course, they cannot give me one; I then ask them to send ME a message by email - or alternatively through my internet banking message tool, but apparently their policy is NOT to email their customers. Really ???
After all that, they insist I must go to my nearest branch - and when I ask which branch is nearest to my address (according to their records) ... they say, for privacy reasons they cannot tell me. Really ????
Please don't be naive and fall for this SCAM. This is NOT the way banks establish contact with their customers.

Same thing here - I was suspicious and called the bank back via the number on their website. They confirmed it was genuine, from their recoveries service in relation to a late credit card payment. Like Michael said, better safe than sorry.

same dodgy calls twice now both times claiming to be from St George bank with heavy Indian accents and asking for and not giving information-an identity scam for sure
Have just opened a St George account so it seems the bank security system is poor if someone is getting hold of names and phone numbers

Someone called me from a blocked number claiming to be from St. George Bank. I was reluctant to give out details and called them back on the number they provided 1300 303 110. I still hesitated when I spoke to another Indian person with a heavy accent. I established they were genuine after they filled in the gaps on the info they wanted. I will not do it again though.

Very suspicious. Foreign accent caller, said he was from St George Bank, asking me to call this number. Sounds like a prank for phishing scam.

They claim to be St George. But when I sayd St George don't do bussiness on sunday, it stumped the person (again with an Indian name) on the other side. don't give out personal details!

Keep getting same sort of calls from this number, but claiming to be Bank SA

I was called by private number (CLID blocked) about an overdue credit card payment on two occasions, both times by Indian-sounding staff who gave me this number to call back St George Bank on. Seems genuine, but caller's sound was very suspicious (crackly, VoIP line, Indian accent) and felt like a phishing call. Turns out not fake. Is St George testing if people will give out personal details when they call!? Or just doing what banks usually do - offshore and aim for more profit? LOL

I called stgeorge following the cold call and they had no idea what it was about.

I received a call from person as well. I wouldn't provide my details and ended up calling St George (got number from website) They confirmed it was genuine but I still don't like giving my details when people cold call me. Better safe than sorry.

Claims to be St George Bank and asks for personal details to verify purpose of call. Do not give details, best to always call the bank yourself on offical phone numbers.
