I just had this happen to me. A guy with a forigen accent called me saying he was working for the goverment from "The Australian Council Reclaims" and i was overcharged by my bank and was entitled to $4,275.00 all i had to do was go to the post office and pay $150 into thier western union account and i would have the $4,275 + the $150 i just paid in my account within 15mins.I asked this guy his name and he said "Jack Dawson", the ph no. he gave me to ring back was (02) 8014 0720. He was quite persistent as to when I could get to a post office & I asked him how do I know that this was legitimate, he told me to Google business.gov.au & enter in this ABN no. 38392626187 where it says apply for an ABN and it would show up as a registered business. He called me again a few hours later asking if I had been to the post office yet!

I just had this happen to me. A guy with a forigen accent called me saying he was working for the goverment from "The Australian Council Reclaims" and i was overcharged $12,720 all i had to do was go to the post office and pay $200 into thier western union account and i would have the $12,720 + the $200 i just paid in my account within 15mins.
I asked this guy his name and he said "Jack Dawson" wow the same name as leonardo in "Titanic" interesting name for someone with a indian accent.
At the end of the conversation he told me when i recieved my money he expected a box of chocolates! haha your kidding right? he carried on about this box of chocolates telling me not to forget. I just hung up in the end.

They called my wife that she was over charged with bank fees totalling $3470 and that she gets reimbursment but has to go to western union to get a form and they will tell her how to fill up the form. I told my wife if they call back tell them the police is monitoring our phone because told police about their call

Marcus Jones called from Bank Reclaims Dept saying I had $7200.00 in bank fees owed to me. Said he is working for the Government to get back money owed to Australians who were overpaid in fees. Asked me to get two forms from Post Office (Western Union Money Receive & Money Sending Forms) and he would call me back and help me fill out the forms.  This is probably were he expects to get my bank details?? although if he knows about my excess bank fees you would think he already knows my details!!!  He said how long will it take you to get forms, I said about an hour, he said "is Post Office that far away??"  His fee for this is $318.00. He also said if I try to call him on this number I will have troulble getting him as it is a very large call centre.  I am using the hour to do this internet search and look forward to hearing from this scammer....

Caller: Bank Reclaims Department

Had a caller asking to speak to my mother. I told the caller she was not available and so the caller started telling me she was from Australian Council Bank Reclaim Department. That there were $5114 in bank fees recovered. And to claim them I needed two forms from the post office for the western union money transfer forms. I was only suspicious when she was asking for my name, my date of birth (stupidly gave her) and which bank I use - the last one clued me in. She was very pushey as to when I when go to the post office to collect these forms. Apparently they needed $150 processing fee.

Same scam. Got a call saying it was from the government wanting to help us get through the recession :)

All we had to do was give them our post code, and then go to a western union and fill out some forms., and pay a refundable $150 fee to receive $5,000. The $150 was to verify my identity.

Fee now 280.00 and exactly the same.
