The number is not connected when I call it. I have been getting around 3 calls a day for weeks now. Amazing that nothing can be done about these people. The telco's must be making good money out of scammers. Most likely this is the motivation behind why they say they can do nothing about them.

Told me over and over that they weren't selling anything. I asked how they have my number when I am on the DNC register. She STILL said that it was OK, because she wasn't selling anything. I asked again, how they got my number. She said it was ok, because they were exempt. I said that I believed only Charities, Religious groups and Political organisations were exempt and which one was she and she hung up.
VoIP makes spoofing caller ID a lot easier... It also means that the calls don't cost them anything except their time.
Maybe we should all just waste their time???

I hope they r getting something for all their annoying efforts, the Ombudsman followed by Prosecution sounds like a good move.
Who & Where are the scam police?

Why is it when you call the number back you are advised the number is disconnected. Can only assume they are checking if you are home and if you are a pensioner who might be taken for a ride. My husband answered and when he told them his age they were no longer interested.

Multiple missed calls on our landline. Said they were from Australian postcode survey. I said to place me on Do Not Call - caller said they were exempt. When I said I did not believe him and would post a complaint he hung up.

They called. I answered. They didn't say a word. All I heard was background noise, and a woman talking? Weird.
