When I baulked, and pointed out that this was the same result as you would get with any windows box, he tried to offer me more proof, so I said “ now you’ll get me to run eventviewer and show me all the horrible error messages won’t you” and he hung up.
Very rude.
Wasted his time for almost 15 minutes, so I’ll put that down as community service.

Apparently overseas people were trying to give me viruses and steal my bank details via my NBN connection.
He was unable to verify his identity by quoting my External IP address or my NBN NTU number as this was “private information”. Yeah, right.
I played along, and he got me to run windows-r followed by the command “assoc”. I must be very slow as this took a long time to run.
