Said someone was trying to buy an iPhone 11 and directed me to the App Store with instructions to put in something in the search bar. When I told her that I couldn’t as I was driving and couldn’t pull over as I was on a freeway. I asked her for a mum we to call her back on as I suspected she was a scammer, she had to ask her managers permission. She then proceeded to give me the (07) 5642 14744 no. The original call came from a mobile number and when I tried calling it it was disconnected, as most scamming numbers are. I then proceeded to verify this with Amazon who stated that they never make unsolicited calls as this and will forward the number for further investigation. The scammers even had my email address, but that’s not surprising since the Optus hack. Beware!!

Like the one above, there had been a fraudulent account created in my name and a purchase of an iPhone for $99. I too got put through to her 'senior', a Mr Paul, who gave me his phone number when I said I wanted to call him back. Very smooth, very convincing. But I think I out-dumbed them with all my confusing questions.

Amazon iPhone purchase scam - they trick you into installing a remote desktop application (Anydesk in this case) so they can get full access to your device.
Don't fall for it. Stall their calls and submit the report with ScamWatch

Tried to tell me I bought an iPhone 11 for $7.99. The original caller was Jennifer who put me on to her manager Rex when I started to ask further questions.
